Judge Diwakar, who was transferred after awarding 22 death sentences, has now sentenced another man Nadeem to death for setting his 23-year-old wife, Shahzadi, on fire during a dispute in 2018.

In his judgment, he wrote: “I would prefer death rather than get called a coward judge. I would serve only if I could follow my principles, otherwise I would resign.”

A British guy saw the higher ticket prices for foreigners at Indian heritage sites and called it racism.

He didn’t ask why the gap exists. He just reached for the nearest accusation.

Indian taxpayers fund those sites. The subsidised rate for locals is the state returning a fraction of what citizens already paid in. A foreigner paying a bit more isn’t oppression. It’s the same logic as a Brit paying less for the NHS than a tourist would.

And the hypocrisy is glaring. UK universities charge Indian students three to four times what British students pay, around thirty nine thousand pounds versus nine and a half, because home fees are capped by the state and international fees aren’t. The British taxpayer subsidises British students. The Indian taxpayer doesn’t subsidise British universities.

So if charging foreigners more at Indian sites is racism, then charging Indian students triple in the UK is racism too. He only sees the racism when the bill lands on him.

Nestle CEO says company wants India to consult with companies on labelling. Activists say that's wrong.

Since the story was ​published, consumers and experts have expressed their frustration as likes of Coca-Cola & Nestle have voluntarily put front-of-pack labels in many European markets for years.

Activists say companies should not be consulted in deciding on labelling. "Nestle's call for industry participation in India’s labelling rules is a clear attempt to weaken public health policy," said Dr. Arun Gupta @Moveribfan. "They have used warning labels in Europe since 2013 while their trade bodies fought them ​in India."

There is a reason we dress differently for Holi, Diwali, weddings and religious festivals. Clothing, food, sweets and traditions are all shaped by the occasion.

The issue isn’t “telling women what to wear.” The issue is whether what is being promoted is appropriate for the occasion.

Wear whatever you want in your personal life or films. That’s your choice.

But when you participate in a festival rooted in tradition, showing some sensitivity toward the occasion isn’t oppression.
