Towards the end of the novel, I was glad that the point of view was in third person. I felt as though I found out more about the mystery and what happened this way rather than if the point of view was from Darrens. #engl20101

I found the theme of family to be very prominent in the first couple of sections of the novel. We learn about the families of a lot of the characters. I find this helpful because it provides special insight to who they are and why are they are they way they are. #engl20101

One thing I noticed throughout the reading was the backstory that the audience gets about each character. Locke does a nice job of telling us the lives of each of them and providing details of who they are and how they got to where they are now. #engl20101

The ending to An Extraordinary Union was not what I was really expecting. To see the last couple of chapters focused on Elle really helped me solidify my understanding of who she is. I wish the novel gave us insight into the relationship, since it just began. #engl20101

@ChristieIrvin7 I agree! I think the two genres can be mixed well, and in the case of An Extraordinary Union, Cole weaves them together nicely. I think her description of different settings, as well as the added affection between Elle and Malcolm, makes for a great start to the novel #engl20101
