SOLANA’S BIGGEST UPGRADE SINCE 2020 IS LIVE.

Alpenglow changes how Solana validators agree on transactions, targeting finality in around 150 milliseconds down from roughly six seconds.

That could mean faster-feeling trades and payments, plus validator voting costs about 60% lower.

One thing to watch: reported transaction counts may drop because validator votes are moving off-chain. That doesn’t automatically mean user activity is falling.

Now the real test is how it performs on mainnet.

Could this be a major step toward Solana handling the next wave of users?

BIG DAY FOR SOLANA.

Alpenglow, Solana’s biggest network overhaul since 2020, is scheduled to go live today.

The upgrade replaces the network’s current validator voting system and targets transaction finality of around 150 milliseconds, down from roughly six seconds. Validator costs could also fall by about 60%.

If those targets hold up on mainnet, that’s a serious step forward for trading, payments and apps built on Solana.

Now it’s all about the rollout and how the network performs in the real world. This is the kind of infrastructure progress that keeps me bullish on SOL long term.
