If one hour isn’t enough to train someone to make your coffee… how can it be enough to support someone living with dementia?
We don’t expect a barista to master the art of a perfect cup in just sixty minutes.
But too often, that can be all care staff are given before supporting someone with complex, life-changing needs.
A new report we’ve commissioned – led by the experts at the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University and IFF Research - found only 55% of care staff in England have had dementia specific training, and for many, it’s just for one or two hours.
The people caring for our loved ones do incredible, skilled work every single day. The system should give them the training they need to do it well.
People living with dementia deserve better care.
Care staff deserve better support.
It’s time to do better.
Do you agree? We know that care staff do! 81% in England agreed they would like more dementia-specific training. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Love your library. When my violent ex smashed my laptop, stole my money & would stop me finding work, the library was all I had. They helped me write a CV, find a job, a CAREER and leave that twat. Libraries aren’t just books, they’re warmth, freedom and new worlds. #WarmWelcome
