Why is this? Well your reader has enough information as it is, so if you make it simple for him to understand what is happening in your story better. Also, this referes to the basic level of your power sistem, you can add things latter, but the core principle needs to be simple

Tip for manga writers: if your power sistem can't be explained in one sentence, then is to complicated and you need to simply it, so your reader doesn't get lost

If you are creating a protagonist, don't make them the one with nothing especial, do the opposite but make that something especial they have be the reason everyone thinks they are not especial or capable

Great examples of this are:
Naruto: Literally his enormous chacra and his hipper active and energetic demeanor make him a loser in the academy but a fucking beast latter in the show.
