A (relatively) quick note to respond to the (much appreciated) scores of (very nice) notes online regarding today's news about Doctor Who. My interest and record is well-established; the only real question I think the BBC would (very fairly) ask is: would British fans be open --
My sister husband is American and got stabbed in London today
"It was a gang of black teenagers, they stole my phone too, in the middle of the day!"
I raised my eyebrow
"I posted about it on my Twitter, so people know what's happening in London"
This was too much. Not only had he racially profiled the attackers, but he’d also spread hate speech online
I had no choice but to call the police. Within 20 minutes, three officers arrived
"You're under arrest for publishing material intended to stir up racial hatred under the UK Online Safety Act"
"What? What the fuck are you talking ab-"
"You committed a hate crime, sir. We have your IP and post logged"
They cuffed him on the spot
The officers thanked me for reporting it as they dragged him away
Americans are too primitive to grasp it, but this is what a properly functioning society looks like
Brentwood Town can today confirm its retained list ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to those departing the club, and wish them all the very best for the future 🩵
@VAPELOUD2016@GreatBritishMC Gypsy and Traveller month, would you believe it. Celebrating their "contribution". Thanks Sadiq.
I'm doing my bit by getting my roof vandalised. I mean fixed.
I got bumped from business class by @AmericanAir. I asked if it was because they needed the leg room for someone else, and for once, nobody laughed. I’m certainly not laughing. This plus delays #ShitAir
In the cold light of day, let’s not forget that we finish the season as Premier League Champions - the trophy that 91 other league clubs would do anything to have.
Last night we faced a club that’s been pumped with oil money to the tune of billions. Probably the best team in world football, one that won last year’s final 5-0 and who put 6 goals past Bayern over their semi final this season.
In a game last night where many predicted a hammering, it took them a penalty to get a draw, and they ended up beating us by 1 penalty kick in the shootout. Narrow as you can get.
I’m gutted that some of our players didn’t turn up (Saka for one) and that some didn’t have the balls to take the 5th penalty, leaving it to a centre back.
But we’ve come a long way this season and won the Premier League by 7 points. With quality additions this summer we can go on and dominate and it wouldn’t surprise me to see us in Madrid this time next year.
Up The Gunners. Fuck all the rest.
@London_W4 This erosion of basic common decency really upsets me, as I don't think we'll ever get it back. It's like how every time I get on a train nowadays you've got several arseholes with their feet on the seats.
@KhorneDog The first book I ever fell in love with, at about 11yo. I can remember carrying it around with me, looking to read over watching TV, firing up the NES. I wish I could interest my kids.
