My first #MothersDay was so sweet 🥹 It’s been a journey of growth and I reflected on my progress in #MaternalMentalHealth
Hope this can encourage and strengthen others.

“Can I bring my baby to the interview?”
The message came in at 11 PM:
“Hi, I have an interview with you tomorrow at 2 PM. My childcare fell through. Can I bring my 8-month-old? I understand if you need to reschedule.”
Old me would have rescheduled.
Unprofessional. Distraction. Red flag.
New me replied:
“Absolutely. See you tomorrow.”
She showed up with her baby on her hip.
She apologized three times before even sitting down.
Ten minutes in, the baby started crying.
She tried to soothe him while answering questions.
She apologized again.
I stopped the interview and said:
“Hey. You’re managing a fussy baby, answering complex questions, and staying calm under pressure. That’s literally the job. Handling chaos while staying professional. You’re already proving you can do it.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
We hired her.
She’s been with us for a year now.
The most reliable team member we have.
Why?
Because when you’re used to handling a screaming infant at 3 AM and still showing up to work the next day, workplace stress feels like nothing.
Working parents, especially mothers, are some of the most organized, efficient, and resilient people you’ll ever hire.
Yet we lose them because our hiring processes are built for people with zero caregiving responsibilities.
If your interview process can’t accommodate a parent facing a childcare issue, you’re not filtering for professionalism.
You’re filtering for privilege.
The teenager bagging groceries today asked if I wanted my bread on top.
I said yes.
He nodded seriously and said, "Good call. Structural integrity is everything."
Then he arranged my bags like he was building a cathedral.
His coworker laughed at him.
But my bread arrived home unpunched, my tomatoes unbrushed.
Sometimes the people who care too much about small things are exactly who we need.
my therapist once said “growth is realizing that someone’s inconsistency is a sign to step back, not a challenge to prove your worth” and i think y’all need to engrave this into your soul.
I’ve never been this nervous for or paid this close attention to a pommel horse routine.

Simone Biles said she talked with her therapist before winning Thursday’s all-around gymnastics final at the Paris Olympics.
The gymnast, who is an advocate for mental health, also met virtually with her therapist Tuesday before the U.S. won gold in the team final.
Beautiful! ❤️ This little girl wasn't feeling well during her doctor's visit, but these doctors serenaded her. Empathy and kindness make all the difference! (🎥: TT/bolaabolaaa)
Dear God, in this month of June we declare your peace over our lives. May you grant us serenity even in moments of unforeseen circumstances. Lord, please help us accomplish all our desired goals, give us divine favor & open doors, and may the plans of our enemies against us fail.
I remember when she took a two-year hiatus bc she simply just needed to get her mind right and ppl talked about her so crazy. And now she back like she never left. Mental health breaks are necessary. Take them.
