🚨 BREAKING: FLORIDA LEGISLATURE FORMALLY APPROVES ABOLISHING PROPERTY TAXES for most primary homeowners statewide
Both chambers RESOUNDINGLY pass Gov. Ron DeSantis’ proposal, SENDING IT TO VOTERS for approval this November
LET’S GO!!! ☀️👏🏻
Needs 60% of voters this fall.
Florida is MAKING HISTORY!
The homestead exemption will surge up to $250K to start, and a schedule will set its elimination in the future
However, MOST homeowners will already get effective 0 taxes under the proposal.
DO IT NATIONWIDE!
The anti-India attacks are getting completely out of control.
For the record: I’ve never lobbied for H-1B visas and I don’t even like the program. I’ve repeatedly said the massive green card backlog it creates amounts to indentured servitude.
I’ve also never really lived in India.
This is open racism .
Fox News LIED to their audience.
They called LCAs “visas.” ( deliberately misleading)
They CLAIMED 90% of Indian H1bs are fraudulent.
They recycled a decade-old anecdote ( by a Pakistani American ) as current fraud evidence.
They dragged in unrelated fake degree cases ( that had nothing to do with H1b visas )
They turned India’s share of skilled-worker approvals into a conspiracy.
Then they used that fake narrative to blame Indians for America’s housing crisis, tech layoffs, wages, and economic anxiety.
That is a DELIBERATE smear campaign against Indians.
Rupert Murdoch’s media empire is manufacturing anti-Indian hate for ratings and India should stop treating them like a normal media business.
Review every Murdoch-linked channel, bureau, feed, access pass, distribution deal, and commercial privilege in India.
Bar them where appropriate.
You do not get to lie about Indians abroad and profit from India at home.
@FoxNews
2 weeks in the US, I realized none of my NRI friends are investing in India anymore
The taxation, process etc. is very hard for minimal returns and it is difficult to beat the dollar appreciation
Interesting times ahead
Dude, can’t believe how misinformed you are for someone who posts insightful posts. Other than anyone who's Chinese or Indian gets their green card in one year after the H-1B. Only Indians and Chinese have a backlog. Each country is capped to 7%. So these two countries get only 14% while rest of world from all other countries take up the 86% of green cards every year. Please stop this misinformed hate on Indians. They make up less than 1.5% of US population and pay 6% of all taxes.
Waiting for a consular appointment was already a problem for H-1B holders, but several policy decisions have made this issue much worse:
1.) The Trump Admin reversed a policy allowing them to renew their visas at any U.S. Embassy. Previously, visa holders could find a consular office with the shortest waiting periods and book an appointment there. Now, an Indian applicant needs to renew their visa in India--which has ridiculous waiting times.
2.) The Trump Admin removed a pilot program that allowed H-1Bs to renew their visas stateside--allowing them to wait out the bureaucratic process in the US so they could continue to work and be with their children as their ability to re-enter the U.S. is pending approval.
3.) The Trump Admin required that children and seniors be physically present at a consulate and get interviewed for visa renewal. The previously policy waived interview requirements for children under 14 and seniors over 79. The lines for getting your visa renewed extend far outside of the physical building. Imagine waiting hours line in India during over 100 degree weather--and you have to bring your baby with you. Imagine having to do this as a senior citizen.
The Trump Admin needs to reverse these policies ASAP.
This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out.
He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations.
Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs.
If America is no longer a place where people feel empowered to be the best versions of themselves as they celebrate, struggle, and grieve, it ceases not just being the land of opportunity, but also the land of dignity and purpose.

Many people are focused on the high-profile changes to the H-1B program (weighted lottery, prevailing wage levels, Project Firewall, etc). But I think the most prominent, underdiscussed change was that the White House made it harder to renew the visas that allow them to re-enter the country.
I just received a text from somebody on H-1B status that they had to wake up at 3:30 am to book a consular appointment for August 2027. Wait times at the Indian consular offices are usually ridiculous, but visa holders could circumvent these backlogs by going to U.S. embassies with less bureaucratic strain (like Canada) to renew their visas.
The White House ended this practice last year. Now, if an Indian H-1B needs to travel for work or they have a family emergency in their home country, they won't be able to seamlessly depart and return.
@SaraGonzalesTX@SaraGonzalesTX Contrary to your argument any non immigrant resides in USA —including an H-1B holder—can start and own a business. However, they cannot work for or receive a salary from that business. So technically h1b worker can own, also work if the company can sponsor h1.
@SaraGonzalesTX While your questioning was thorough, you should have left when they refused to answer and reported it instead of scolding them, which is unethical and illegal behavior. Don’t know why you scolding someone who doesn’t answer random people? Are you racially motivated?

@DorseyWittig4g@Bitcoin_Teddy Why can’t why reduce on primary residence cut it down less than 60% of secondary homes. The big issue is for small families to paying higher mortgage along with property taxes spiking year over year are insane.
