I like Pakistan India wars a lot more than whatever shit is going on in the world rn. The thing about Pak-India is that neither country wants a full war, they put on an entertaining show for a few hours, decide on a ceasefire and let the people fight on social media instead.
Dear Indian origin/American leaders in the US,
@satyanadella, @sundarpichai, @ArvindKrishna, @nikesharora, @nealmohan, @MicronCEO, @JayZscaler, @kunalb11, @RamaswmySridhar, @AravSrinivas, @ThomasOrTK, @LeenaNairHR, @snarayen, @VivekGRamaswamy, @RepBera, @CongressmanRaja, @RepSuhas@Kash_Patel
It is high time you all speak up against the despicable, dangerous racism and hate against Indians on American social media. And do something about it as Tech CEOs and political leaders.
The despicable, dehumanizing hate against Indians is being spread everywhere - Facebook, Instagram, X, Youtube, Reddit, Telegram...
Staying silent and not doing anything anymore - as more young people in the US are radicalized to hate Indians using social media - may one day lead to our own family and friends having to face such racist, radicalized, violent, supremacists.
American social media platforms are being used by adversarial actors to specifically target Indians in the US.
They are seeding racism and hate using violent words and dehumanizing imagery, programming many Americans to become racist and hateful - specifically against Indians.
May be it is being done to drive out Indians, attack India for geopolitics, or try erode India-US ties. But it is real, relentless and extreme form of communist hate that's being seeded.
There's no reason why, you all as stalwarts of silicon valley and politics can't get together, talk about this crisis, and take action to end ALL hate and racism on social media.
It shouldn't be that difficult in the age of AI to filter out, block racist and hate filled comments against any community, isn't it.
How come this is not being proposed and implemented across SV companies? And why isn't any of you speaking out against this increasing online hate and racism against Indian Americans and Indians?
Among all mentioned above, till now only @CongressmanRaja has talked about the topic of online hate and the recent attempted mass shooting.
Please start talking among yourselves, even if not publicly, and kindly take some action 🙏
I know our MEA, diplomats have many things to worry about and do. And I am not trying to advise seasoned diplomats what to do. Just putting down my humble observations and suggestions here.
Observations:
> MEA/Indian Embassies need to be quick in reacting to world events.
> PR, media, information is very important in this age of social media and tech-savvy youngsters (>70% of Indians).
> Even a temporary lack of information and silence from official handles is being used by adversaries to inflict serious infowar damage to India and to spread misinfo to Indians.
> It also makes many Indians question why GoI is not doing anything, when foreign countries and leaders are proactively engaging an Indian audience.
Suggestions:
> Build a tech enabled dashboard for MEA to monitor world events, news, social media and surface intelligence rapidly to act on them.
> Every embassy (or centrally in Delhi) must have at least one full time, well trained person to handle comms, PR, and social media. "Our staff is busy attending to crisis" is not a good excuse.
> Trust and empower them to react to events quickly, proactively and decisively without too many hierarchical approvals and fear. Let them freely engage social media.
> When a news like this breaks, I am sure our embassies will immediately know it and contact relevant contacts in partner countries (like Israel, Saudi, UAE here) to find if any Indian nationals and connections are affected.
> Once it is established that Indian nationals or India are involved, quickly put out information for Indian media, and in social media, generically that particular Indian embassy is monitoring/MEA is aware. Indians will feel the GoI is taking care.
> Give timely updates on what is going on and use multimedia to engage the audience. Just one cut-copy-paste text post by every embassy and MEA, 7-8 hrs after media and even international leaders talk about it, doesn't seem enough.
> What should ideally happen after such long time is an interactive presser explaining all the knowledge gained and the situation like an Youtuber/Influencer explaining complex stuff. It will engage all Indians. Especially Gen-Z.
> We can see what Trump himself did parroting and explaining all he was told by Netanyahu even though no American seemed involved. We can ridicule him or mock him or his manners, but he understands something.
> He know all his MAGA base will be enthralled watching him explain the terror attack. No adversary can push propaganda like "Trump's clueless" or "He doesn't care about Israelis, Jewish Americans" etc.
Prompt PR preserves political capital and nation's stability.
In this FlyDubai case, for so many hours we were not exactly sure if the Capt was Indian. Media in India too reported it only after seeing Israeli news but it was not confirmed officially by India.
If at least one Indian Embassy or MEA had quickly established and put out info that Capt. Smit was an Indian national, all of us pro-India handles would have confidently done the rest fighting fake news and misinformation that was spread.
🙏
My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.
Dear @MEAIndia / @IndianEmbRiyadh / @IndianEmbRiyadh
Just a kind request: I am regularly checking your handles. None of you have posted a single tweet about Captain Smit, yet.
If he's Indian, then there must be some kind of info and media on Indian officials meeting him, assisting his recovery etc. Better, announce some award too immediately. The Israelis are sure to do this.
Even if he's not an Indian national, MEA can deny it but congratulate his bravery as a PIO. But we can't just be silent, bad and apathetic in PR. And of course in fighting the infowar against India in every country.
I hope some posts come out soon by India regarding this incident. Every Indian is rallying behind his bravery. Now is the time.
@aravind@netanyahu@aravind Brother Not single tweet from our PMO, else he keep on tweeting abt random events. Then we say India is not good in communication, spreading good things about our own country.Sad affairs. Kudos to Indian pilot.
