It’s insane. My wife recently went to the ER for a blood pressure spike that couldn’t be explained. Ended up getting admitted for three days and went to the ICU, all she needed to really do was go to our primary (according to him) for oral meds while they figure the situation out (it was oral birth control) and the hospital charged $60k, reduced it to $20k for the insurance company, and are charging us $1050 ($350 a day “co-pay”) even though my HBCBS costs close to $30k a year between me and my employer, perhaps more. It is NUTS. And I’m sure this is probably a minor example.
