The best thing from the ongoing tariff issue is boosting demand for Make in India products in India.

But problem is how to do it ? The issue of indian consumers being price sensitive cant be discounted. Why cant tier 1 consumers be the start of this revolution.

I want to buy Indian-made products, but identifying them on these platforms or in retail shops is challenging.

My mom used to stitch clothes to pay loans taken from family/friends to send us to Kota for JEE preparation. She used to start at 6AM and work until 11/12 midnight.

My father also used to wake up at 6, go to all his customers who bought items on credit to collect the money and comeback around 10/11 and then work hard until 11PM on the shop.

Also, my mom sold her jewellery and father sold ancestral property then because it was two of us (my brother & I) who were studying in these expensive coaching schools. They didn’t want us to compromise in any sense.

Mom was 34 years old then, and dad was 39. They spent the peak of their youth years raising us and working hard for our future.

In spite of all this, my parents never ever asked about our grades or how we were performing in our studies even after putting so much effort. All they asked us is how we were doing, and if we were well. And this remains until today, they only asks about our well being and not about academic/financials.

All my friends in coaching and then college, used to share their stories of how their parents ask them about their performance and how it stressed them more because they didn’t want to disappoint them. Their parents checked on them and reminded them to study well.

My father used to give us a pep-talk every now and then about not taking any pressure, and mom used to talk about how hard work takes us places irrespective of the selection as an outcome. I used to feel very proud of this attitude of my parents that they trust us so much and don’t want to put any pressure on us. It made me confident and motivated to work harder.

When I read about the tragic suicide stories in Kota, I get it. I get it, WHY they did so. They knew the importance of wellbeing. They knew how 'big an influence' parent is on their child and their small actions counted. It was their unconditional love and support, which became my driving force.

PS: I am not at all saying any parent is better than another; they all want our happiness. Just sharing my story.
