"Today would have been the 54th birthday of Volodymyr Vakulenko — a poet, novelist, translator, civic activist, father, and dreamer. He gave readers sincere and luminous books, as well as an example of extraordinary courage. His life was stolen by russian occupiers during the occupation of Izium, but his words live on.
Today also marks the anniversary of the death of @vamelina — writer, war crimes researcher, human rights advocate, and founder of the New York Literary Festival in the Donetsk oblast. She found Vakulenko's diary in occupation and made his last words heard. She died on July 1, 2023, from injuries sustained in a russian missile strike on Kramatorsk."
We will never forget them. Eternal memory and glory to Volodymyr Vakulenko and Victoria Amelina.
