In the continued crackdown on Srinagar-based High Court Bar Association (HCBA), Police have arrested a senior advocate Mohammad Ashraf Bhat from his residence, booked him under the Public Safety Act (PSA), shifted him to Jammu and lodged him in a jail in Kathua last night. He is the 5th Kashmir advocate, and the 4th in the current row, who has been arrested reportedly on the charges of strengthening the Valley's separatist movement, promoting the narrative of Pakistan and the militants and disputing India's sovereignty and integrity in Jammu and Kashmir. Recent arrests have come even after the HCBA last month announced to have deleted its stand which called J&K a disputed territory. Advocate Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, who was formerly General Secretary of HCBA, has been arrested after the recent arrests of the two former Presidents of HCBA, namely Mian Abdul Qayoom and Nazir Ahmad Ronga, besides Qayoom's nephew advocate
