I study Zen, the lineage of Shakyamuni and Bodhidharma, via the historical record that spans 1,000 years in China. I post excerpts from Zen texts I read.
Emperor Wu of Liang asked Great Teacher Bodhidharma, "What is the highest meaning of the holy truths?"
Bodhidharma said, "Empty—there's no holy."
The emperor said, "Who are you facing me?"
Bodhidharma said, "Don't know."
Give more life to your limited time with this one special Zen trick: See your original nature and attain Buddhahood.
Shakyamuni awakened upon seeing the morning star. Xiāngyán was enlightened while sweeping and hearing a pebble strike bamboo. How could it be practised?

@lilxan1k You don't need to suffer every day.
There is the reality of unsatisfactoriness, and it has a cause, but one can ameliorate this unsatisfactoriness by following the Noble Eightfold Path: Right view, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness and concentration.
@vinlandwisdom I agree: there's nothing in particular you can do to get it, no practise you could put effort into that wouldn't be an obstruction to it.
Zhàozhōu asked Nánquán, "What is the Way?"
Nánquán said, "Ordinary mind is the Way."
He also said, "If confused people of later generations get to know ordinary beings, then this is Buddha-nature. If they do not know ordinary beings, they will hardly find Buddha-nature even if they seek for ten-thousand aeons."
Huinéng said, "If your own nature is enlightened, ordinary being is Buddhahood; if your own nature is confused, Buddhahood is ordinary being. If your own nature is impartial, ordinary being is Buddhahood; if your own nature is perverse, Buddhahood is ordinary being."

@RealisticPoetry The round pearl has no hollows.
The great raw gem isn't polished.
What is esteemed by people of the Way is having no edges.
Removing the road of agreement, senses and matter are empty:
The free body, resting on nothing, stands out unique and alive.
