This work would have not been possible without such great coauthors Miha, Inés, Alessio and Fedor : ) If you are working on similar topics, feel free to drop an email (or a DM)!
We just released our preprint https://t.co/osuJibSOY1 on arbitrary code distance fermion-to-qubit encodings!
Almost all previous fermionic encodings have a fixed distance but we give a strategy to arbitrarily grow their distance and use it for Verstraete-Cirac and others.
Then we interpret them under the perspective of topological codes and their anyons, what allows us to extend this strategy to other encodings. We also give an embedding of our approach under the 6.6.6 color code to show that is a quite flexible strategy.
What kind of childhood makes a top scientist? Is it enough to have all the right traits (brilliance, grit, etc) or do you need the right family too?
And why should we care? A 🧵 on our paper on the Nobel Laureates.
A teaser: the income distribution of the laureates' fathers.1/N
Hoy a pocas horas del impacto casi simultáneo de Kirk y Milton, se publica uno de los trabajos académicos de la década, firman algunos de los mejores científicos vivos que tenemos, y dicen:
"Estamos al borde de un desastre climático irreversible". 🧵

If I had a nickel for every time a woman named Rosalind got neither the credit nor a Nobel Prize for her work, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Excited to share our new work on solving time-dependent PDEs with MPS! We introduce a new method for approximating functionals of derivatives. Paired with the split-step method, it efficiently tackles evolution problems in levitodynamics. https://t.co/eq8th8rU78
If I'd had my way the title of https://t.co/vyPtd6HsjE would have been this meme.
Our case study found that in all cases where QCNNs work (i.e. train and generalize) - they're possible to classically simulate.
We set it as a challenge to the community to prove us wrong.
This year’s QC Summer School at Los Alamos comes to an end. Leaving feels a bit like the first days of summer in Hogwarts, when everyone packs their things after having intense adventures in a unique place. If you ever have the opportunity to apply, don’t doubt it for a second.
It is a privileged place for doing quantum computing. It has been extremely intense both in a scientific and social sense. The organizers really work hard for the students to have a good time and to feel included.
New work out!! 😁🥳
We essentially show that simulating Gaussian bosonic circuits on an exponential number of modes is BQP-complete! 🔥
