Sokoto Hisbah Bans Soft Drink Marriage Tradition, DJs and Wazigidi Music at Wedding Ceremonies

The Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board, Usman Abdullahi Jatau, has announced a ban on the long-standing marriage practice that requires prospective grooms to present soft drinks, sachet water, biscuits, sweets and kola nuts to the bride's family.

The directive, announced on Monday, also prohibits the use of DJs and Wazigidi music during wedding ceremonies as part of efforts to regulate marriage practices in the state.
