Lecturer @unikentphysics, researcher @AOGKent. Outdoor lover, especially if it involves a rowing boat, a bike, or a pair of trainers!! All opinions my own.
Remember this? Disney understood 70 years ago what driving (& bad urban and suburban design creating car dependancy) can do to us. “Motor Mania” from 1950. Are you a Mr. Walker or a Mr. Wheeler? #CarDependency#RoadRage HT @LiorSteinberg
So, I've just spent a bit of time looking into the debate on IHT and farming. I... got a shock. First, a note: I have a friend who runs a family farm. In his view, the whole thing is a something and nothing. 🧵

It's been snowing in the UK and the road gritters are out in force, begging the question:
Have you ever wondered where that grit actually COMES from?
The answer is more magical, beautiful and fascinating than you probably realised.

King Charles charges this RNLI lifeboat station to launch its boat because he owns the beach. And they’re not the only charity he’s rinsing

Timely to highlight the life and work of Ben Barres.
Ben was a remarkable biologist who transformed our understanding of brain function. Born in 1954, he transitioned from female to male in the late 1990s.
It's timely to highlight the life & work of computer scientist Lynn Conway.
In the late 1960s, she transitioned from male to female and was sacked by IBM as a result. For some years, she went underground and, for the rest of her career, worked as a woman - herstory unknown.
I was kindly invited to visit and document the home on Belgrade Road of a long-term resident who passed away earlier this year at the age of 81. She moved into the house with her family in 1957 and lived there until her passing.
The house, as far as I can tell, retains its original layout from 1894 and even has a disused outhouse in the back garden. It has no central heating, and the interior features a mix of fixtures and fittings from various periods, including a decorative push plate on one of the doors and old light switches.

It’s time for Labour to remember its roots and reinstate the right to peaceful protest.

@MK2PuntoDynamic Puntonators are the best ones! And capable of great things, too - here's ours in northern Portugal after a 2,400-mile roundtrip. What a trooper! I'm sure yours has had similar amazing adventures 😉
@JenOnTheMoveUK It is infuriating for anyone in East Kent. So close and yet so far... can't get the Eurostar in Ebbsfleet either, you have to go all the way back to St Pancras ☹☹
