Alex is a leading policy guru, supporting governments to develop policies that are relevant, consultative and evidence informed, for better service delivery.
Later, I hosted a delegation from the Gates Foundation, led by Deputy Director Mr. Najib L. Bateganja, along with Mr. Jaoko Oburu Odinga, Special Advisor to the Executive Office of the President on Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Livelihoods, at Maji House in Nairobi.
During the meeting, we explored opportunities for collaboration to accelerate access to safely managed decentralized sanitation systems, in line with the Kenya National Water and Sanitation Investment and Financing Plan (2022–2030) and Sessional Paper No. 7 of 2024 on the National Sanitation Management Policy.
The Ministry is committed to achieving an ambitious target of 60 percent access to safely managed decentralized (onsite) sanitation by 2030. We agreed to partner on investments that create economic opportunities in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector, promote innovations, and support the adoption of scalable waste-to-value and circular technologies for decentralized sanitation management, while also contributing to the elimination of infectious diseases.
I was accompanied by the Director for Sanitation Management and the Head of Development Cooperation, Eng. Mary Wamaitha.

@GovernorMwadime Amazing going round the county with HE. Wakujaa as is referred to. Was heartbreaking to see clean water go to waste in one part of the county while the other has none, a county 50% under national parks, while people earning nothing from it but destruction and death from animals.
Gov @SakajaJohnson and I met with Eric Momanyi, Senior Programs Officer, Global Policy and Advocacy for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Nairobi Rivers Commissioner Eva Muhia on Water and Sanitation initiatives for the people of Nairobi.
@DKadengye@aphrc I once walked into a bank, and when the teller checked my account, of course she could see the employer, she asked me if, when we advertise, ever employ. Not sure where these rumours come from. Once again, yes they do! I joined APHRC slightly less than 4 years ago.
@honeybadger332@MRSMuruguu True. If all the people the professor taught in Nairobi and his colleagues have been passing him on the streets across the university he used to teach, then there's something very wrong with our society.
@MRSMuruguu The painful part is this guy has a family, his parents, uncles, siblings, maybe had a wife, kids, he had friends, and worst he was a prof for God sake in a leading university but all of them abandoned him, i mean none of the above was concerned did they try to help him?
