Once upon a time, they worked side by side at the Rwanda Development Board.
One was the CEO. The other was the Deputy CEO.
Today, one leads NBA Africa, shaping the future of sports across the continent. The other serves as Rwanda's Minister of Sports, helping guide the nation's sporting ambitions.
This photo is more than a reunion. It is a reminder of what happens when talent is nurtured, leadership is trusted, and opportunities are earned.
Rwanda continues to produce leaders who make an impact far beyond its borders.
When you come through a system that believes in excellence, growth is not an exception, it is an expectation.
A beautiful reflection of leadership, mentorship, and the power of investing in people.

Nigeria is ranked #1 in global USDT and USDC ownership.
Not the US. Not the UK. Not Singapore.
Nigeria.
59% of Nigerian crypto users hold USDT. 48% hold USDC. More than any other country surveyed. India is third. Brazil close behind.
The reason is obvious once you see it: in countries where local currency loses 20–40% of value annually, stablecoins aren't a crypto product. They're a savings account. A dollar-denominated store of value that doesn't require a US bank account.
Here's what the data doesn't show: most of those stablecoin holders can't use their USDT to buy anything.
No merchant acceptance. No subscription billing. No automatic payment. No way to pay a supplier. They hold the dollars. They can't spend the dollars. They convert back to fiat every time they need to transact.
The gap between stablecoin adoption and stablecoin utility is most visible not in San Francisco or Singapore. It's in Lagos, Jakarta, São Paulo.
$308B in circulation. The people who need stablecoin commerce most have the fewest tools to access it.
That's not a distribution problem. That's an infrastructure problem. The rails exist everywhere. The billing layer doesn't exist anywhere.
That's who we're building for.
Dr. George Elombi sworn in as the fourth President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank.
A Cameroonian national and seasoned executive, Dr. Elombi has been with the Bank since 1996, rising through the ranks to become Executive Vice President, Governance, Legal and Corporate Services.
He succeeds Prof. Benedict Oramah, who has led the Bank since 2015.
Dr. Elombi brings a deep understanding of the Bank’s mission and structure, having played a central role in shaping Afreximbank Group’s structure, legal and institutional frameworks, expanding its capital base, and leading crisis response efforts across Africa and the Caribbean.

“Afreximbank is more than an institution — it is a family.”
At the Farewell Conference in honour of Prof. Benedict Oramah, Mrs. Chinelo Oramah reflected on over three decades of shared sacrifice, purpose, and impact.
She recounted how moving to Cairo as a newlywed became a journey of transformation - one that shaped not only their lives but also Africa’s story of progress through Afreximbank.
“Our sojourn to the deserts of Cairo turned out not to be green enough, but it was the most fulfilling and continually impactful.”
Filled with emotion and gratitude, she celebrated the people behind the Bank’s success:
“Behind every milestone and every transformative project are dedicated people who believe in Africa’s promise — those who sacrifice personal comfort for collective progress.”
She spoke movingly about the Bank’s unwavering humanity, recalling how Afreximbank stood by her family during her husband’s illness.
“The Bank’s care and support saved his life. That kind of compassion transcends employment - it is love, it is family, it is humanity at its finest.”
Mrs. Oramah’s reflections captured the heart of Afreximbank’s legacy - a community bound by purpose, compassion, and commitment to Africa’s growth.
Afreximbank remains deeply grateful to the Oramah family for a lifetime of service, sacrifice, and belief in Africa’s limitless potential.

“Africa’s journey to self-reliance is unstoppable - because we dared to dream and act together.”
After 31 years of service, I stand before Africa’s leaders, partners, colleagues, and friends to say thank you.
From the day I joined Afreximbank as a young pioneer in 1994, I knew this was more than a job — it was a calling. A calling to turn generations of African aspirations into reality.
When I became President in 2015, I promised that we would be bold — that Afreximbank would no longer just finance trade, but build the foundations that make trade possible.
Together, we did just that.
- We helped make the AfCFTA a living reality.
- We built systems like PAPSS and the Adjustment Fund that now connect African economies.
- We launched the Intra-African Trade Fair and digital platforms like the Africa Trade Gateway.
- We supported industries, from the Dangote Refinery to industrial parks and medical excellence centres across the continent.
- We stood by Africa in crisis — mobilising over $10 billion during COVID-19 to help our nations recover and trade again.
- We grew Afreximbank’s balance sheet nearly eightfold, proving that Africa can build institutions as strong and visionary as any in the world.
This journey has never been about me — it has always been about us, about Africa’s courage to believe in itself.
“We fought on all fronts — and today, we can point to a continent rising on its own terms. The dream lives on.”
To our leaders, partners, staff, and my dear family — thank you for walking this path with me.
As I hand over to Dr. George Elombi, I do so with complete confidence. The future of Afreximbank, and of Africa, shines even brighter.
The dream continues — and Africa’s best days are still ahead.

It’s been a crazy few days which have been filled with a whole range of emotions.
But as you all now know, after an incredible 11 years at Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, the time has come for me to start a new chapter in my life and I will be joining Scuderia Ferrari in 2025.
I feel incredibly fortunate, after achieving things with Mercedes that I could only have dreamed of as a kid, that I now have the chance to fulfil another childhood dream. Driving in Ferrari red.
Mercedes has been a huge part of my life since I was 13 years old, so this decision has been the hardest I’ve ever had to make. I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together and I’m very grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone I have worked with over the years and of course Toto, for his friendship, guidance and leadership. Together we have won titles, broken records and become the most successful Driver-Team partnership in F1 history. And of course I cannot forget Niki who was a huge supporter and who I still miss everyday.
I must also share my huge appreciation to the whole of the Mercedes-Benz board and everyone at the company in Germany and around the world for supporting me over these 26 years.
But the time is right to make a change and take on a new challenge. I still remember the feeling of taking a leap of faith into the unknown when I first joined Mercedes in 2013. I know some people didn’t understand it at the time but I was right to make the move then and it's the feeling I have again now. I’m excited to see what I can bring to this new opportunity and what we can do together.
However, right now, I’m not thinking about 2025. My focus is on the upcoming season and getting back out on track with Mercedes. I am more driven than ever, I am fitter and more focussed than than ever and I want to help Mercedes win once again. I am 100% committed to the job I need to do and determined to end my partnership with the team on a high.
Thank you to all of you who have been on this journey with me, you have all lifted me up as I chase my dreams and I hope I can continue to make you proud. As always, sending you my love and positive energy.
President #Kagame on the mindset that should guide every Rwandan, especially the youth: "You must fight for what you want to be and what you want to have. Don't wait for anybody to come and give it to you as a gift."

"Any African can get on a plane to Rwanda whenever they wish and will not pay a thing to enter our country." President Kagame @WTTC#GSRwanda🌍
Given all the indignities Africans endure while traveling, its a thing of beauty for us to be more open to one another right here!🌍✨
“Your talent, your creativity, having this [event] which becomes a channel of expressions of all different kinds. I think that’s the best gift for any people, for any part of society. The arts, creativity, and the whole organization around it, is giving people a home, from different parts of the world. A home through which they express themselves.” President Kagame | Meeting with Winners of #TraceAwardsRwanda2023
