Here is an ongoing list of competitions for students to enter - some many not necessarily jump out as 'geography' but what's stopping your students entering science and English compeitions when using a geographical theme? https://t.co/ki7v8hLhmu
@SilenceInPolish@HodderEducation You know what really worries me is that there are so many teachers advocating for textbooks and yet this is what we see.
@SoLInTheWild Let’s start with an oral assessment for a start. The IB DP have had oral assessments for years, MYP has a dedicated communication mark. Or we could look at the careers programme as an alternative for the DP.
No one loves children like Türks and I will die on that hill.
Cenâb-ı Hak bütün evlatlarımızı her türlü afetten muhafaza eylesin. Bahtlarını açık, ömürlerini hayırlı eylesin.
@BarbaraBleiman I think you have hit the nail on the head. Most teachers I know are in education because they love their subject and want to inspire others. As a parent I want my child to feel safe, to be able to navigate the world around her, ask important questions & feel confident.
@DanielJHannan@LucyMPowell This made me laugh out loud. Geography is in everything we do, everything we say. Every post and article you write has some geographical concept behind it.
After working in the independent sector for half my teaching career I can categorically say it pains me to see teachers who do not think oracy matters. I know this because of my experience in taking students (and coaching) public speaking competitions.
I'm unsure how a government focus on oracy will work, given everyone will prioritise the strands they like and ignore those they don't. And how do you assess it? Another minefield...
Everyone should have the opportunity of showing what matters, whether it’s persuasive, monologues, being able to change language based on audience or through debate.
@teacherhead@rastokke@ResearchEd_CL S. Am has a lot of talent which is hidden by language barriers. If only tech was put into place in English speaking research Ed confs. to translate (which it appears has been done for English speakers in Chile) there might not be the criticism of neo-colonialism at res ed.
