Established in 1905, atop 122 of the finest acres in the Bluegrass. Our farm features the Bayless House c. 1877 and is home to @Mane_Characters Equine Reserve.
Maplehurst Stock Farm mourns Warren Adams Bacon IV—grandson of W.A. Bacon Jr., original owner of Maplehurst and Century Sire Jay Bird. He gave us his blessing to carry on the Maplehurst name. “I am an overeducated redneck cowboy…who left graduate school and joined the circus.”
Did you know: The phrase “lucky goose” was supposedly coined here at Maplehurst Stock Farm around 1897 when folks noticed the view the geese had of the sunset and the horses—at least that’s what our horses tell us. 😉🪿🌅

☀️ After a week of clouds, the sun is finally back at Maplehurst — and Millie is soaking it all in!
It’s #Caturday, so our Head of Rodent Security is off-duty and enjoying a gravel spa day. 😺💤 Gotta recharge for another night of barn cat adventures. #LazyCaturday#CatNap
@LindaCKBL@ONTSSNews@BlakeMacracing@Cdn_HallofFame He’s definitely a descendant of Jay Bird, through both sire and dam lines via Meadow Skipper, Cam Fella, and Albatross, to name a few. 🐴 Jay Bird stood stud at Maplehurst and was buried here in 1906, an honorary ‘Eternal’ Mane Character @Mane_Characters. https://t.co/oHUkeWOCIQ

Today, we remember the passing of our first rescue, Lislea Harry. He was a 22 yo STB who came to us from a very bad situation- he was discarded and blind.
His last months with us were spent in a pasture with Khan of khans, who became Harry’s eyes and incredible friend.
We wish we’d had more time with Harry, but he’d been so neglected, it wasn’t meant to be.
He was happy here, had his dignity and anything else he needed.
He’s buried here on our farm next to his ancestor, Jay Bird, in the beautiful grove. Very fitting. ❤️

So many emotions in this video of Fred and Nash. They came from different backgrounds, yet, they easily became fast friends.
This is a good one, watch until the end if you have 2 minutes.
