Explore the new and improved, freely-accessible Map of Life platform!
Whether youโre looking for biodiversity information for a country or exploring species data for the first time, our refreshed platform makes it easier than ever.
๐ Search across 450,000+ species
๐ Use officially adopted indicators of the UN GBF
๐Zoom in from global trends to regional realities
๐ฏFrom conservation scientists to governments, we deliver info to support global frameworks, regional planning, & scientific advancements
(1/2) XPRIZE is proud to be at the Yale Innovation Summit supporting Map of Life, the second place winner of our #XPRIZERainforest competition. From high-fidelity local precision to global trends, @MapofLife_AI is turning complex biodiversity data into decision-ready insight.
๐This highlights the importance of utilizing multiple measures to drive comprehensive results.
Thereโs still more to uncover but this study is bringing us one step closer to a fuller picture of global biodiversity. Learn more โก๏ธ https://t.co/dF1mKgpp2M
What it took to map most of known butterfly speciesโฆ
Recently published in the Nature Ecology and Evolution journal, our new study mapped 65% of known butterfly species, a milestone for insects which remain chronically understudied. ๐ฆ
๐ชฒ Measuring biodiversity isnโt a one size fitโs all. On the contrary, in this study, applying measurements of species richness, species range rarity, and phylogenetic distinctiveness each told a different piece of the story and ultimately uncovered different patterns.
This #EarthDay2025 isn't just a celebration,ย itโs a checkpoint. A reminder that it takes cross-sector collaboration, integrating science, technology, & local knowledge to drive meaningful change on the ground and worldwide.
We're currently attending #SFClimateWeek and while we're energized by the momentum and bold work being done,ย we're also clear-eyed about the scale of the challenge. At #MapofLife, we're building solutions that move the needle โฌ๏ธ
Whether that's a scientist struggling to make sense of their data to drive change, or a corporation wanting to assess their ecological impact but not knowing where to startโฌ๏ธ
