As President of Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), I strongly and unequivocally condemn the malicious campaign to divide the historic land of Sindh through creation of new provinces or any other scheme designed to fragment our motherland. History has repeatedly demonstrated that policies of forced territorial reengineering and denial of rights and aspirations of historic nations have never produced stability or national unity. From imposition of One Unit system to numerous centralized experiments under successive military dictatorships, every such attempt has failed. Rather than strengthening Pakistan, these policies deepened mistrust, alienation, and political instability, ultimately contributing to tragedies that the nation continues to remember with profound sorrow. Those who continue to pursue the politics of division have learned nothing from history. Durable national unity cannot be built through coercion, demographic engineering, or by undermining the historical identity of a people. It can only be built through justice, equality, mutual respect, constitutionalism, and the voluntary consent of all federating units. Sindh is one of the oldest continuous civilizations and historical nations in the world. Its people have preserved and defended this land for thousands of years. The emotional, cultural, and historical bond between the people of Sindh and their motherland is inseparable. Any attempt to divide Sindh against the will of its people will only deepen political tensions, weaken national cohesion, and create unnecessary conflict. Such reckless proposals serve no national interest and should be rejected unequivocally. I further condemn the politics of hatred that seeks to pit communities against one another and to marginalize the historic peoples of this land. Pakistan’s strength lies in respecting the constitutional rights, identities, cultures, and histories of all its federating units, not in attempts to erase or diminish them. I call upon every elected Member of Sindh Assembly, irrespective of political affiliation, to honor the solemn oath they have taken to serve and protect the people of Sindh. This is a defining moment that demands principled leadership. Every elected member must stand united in defending the territorial integrity, constitutional rights, and historic identity of Sindh, and reject every proposal that seeks to divide our province. I also urge the Federal Government to immediately abandon all divisive proposals and instead pursue policies that promote national harmony, provincial autonomy as guaranteed by the Constitution, democratic dialogue, and equal respect for every federating unit of Pakistan. The unity and integrity of Sindh are not matters for political experimentation. They are a solemn trust inherited from generations past and a sacred responsibility owed to generations yet to come. Sindh has remained united throughout history. It must remain united for all time.

Honoring the Visionaries Who Built Medical Education in Sindh. A friend shared this picture of a plaque at Sindh Medical College, Karachi, I felt a deep sense of pride and gratitude. It commemorates the distinguished individuals whose vision, dedication, and tireless efforts helped establish one of Sindh’s premier institutions of medical education. Among these eminent personalities is my late father, Dr. S. A. Halepota, who had the privilege of serving on the Sindh Medical College Project Committee alongside many other outstanding leaders, administrators, physicians, and public servants. Their collective efforts laid the foundation for expanding medical education and strengthening healthcare in Sindh at a time when the province desperately needed more trained physicians. The establishment of medical colleges is not merely about constructing buildings, it is about investing in future generations of doctors who go on to save countless lives, advance medical science, and serve humanity with compassion. Today, thousands of physicians who graduated from Sindh Medical College are making invaluable contributions to healthcare across the world. This enduring legacy is a testament to the foresight and commitment of those who worked selflessly to make this institution a reality. I pay my heartfelt tribute to all the distinguished members of the Project Committee. History remembers those who build institutions, for their legacy lives on through every life those institutions touch. ❤️🙏

I am deeply concerned to learn that Fayaz Janjhi, a NADRA officer and son of HRCP Council member Sohail Sangi, has reportedly been missing since yesterday. I urge the Government of Sindh and all relevant law enforcement agencies to make his safe recovery an immediate priority. It is unacceptable for public servants, or any citizen, to disappear without swift and effective action. The government must utilize every available resource to locate Mr. Janjhi, ensure his safe release, and provide answers to his family. Every disappearance deserves urgent attention, transparency, and accountability. I stand in solidarity with his family and hope for his safe return at the earliest.

My sincere congratulations to each and every one of you on the successful conclusion of 42nd Annual SANA Convention in Toronto. My heart is filled with gratitude, humility, and hope. I would like to thank every member, volunteer, sponsor, speaker, performer, and guest whose dedication and participation made this convention such a resounding success. For me, this convention carries a very special meaning. It was the eighth SANA convention that I have had the privilege of helping organize as a member of Executive Council (EC), serving over the years as Treasurer, General Secretary, and President. Each convention has taught me invaluable lessons, strengthened lifelong friendships, and reinforced my belief in the extraordinary potential of our community when we work together with a shared purpose. This convention also marks the end of a deeply meaningful chapter in my life, as this was my last convention serving as a member of EC. While every ending brings a sense of nostalgia, it also brings immense satisfaction in knowing that I have had the honor and privilege of serving an organization that has given so much to all of us and one that we all love so dearly. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside outstanding colleagues across multiple ECs, Local Organizing Committees (LOCs), chapter leaders, committee chairs, and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Whatever successes we have achieved have never belonged to any one individual. They are the result of teamwork, mutual respect, and countless hours of selfless service by people who care deeply about SANA and our community. Together, during the past several years, we have strengthened our organization, expanded educational and humanitarian initiatives, invested in our youth, welcomed record numbers of new members, and created new opportunities for engagement across North America, around the world, and in our beloved motherland, Sindh. While there is always more to accomplish, I am proud of what we have achieved together and remain deeply optimistic about SANA’s future. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Ada @Rauf Shaikh, MD for his tireless leadership in hosting an outstanding convention. My special thanks also go to my dear young friend, Ada @Rahul Bhimani, and every member of LOC. Your hospitality, dedication, and attention to every detail went far beyond anything I could have imagined. You are truly a source of immense pride and inspiration for our entire community. My deepest gratitude goes to every member of the EC. Serving alongside each of you has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated achievements, and worked tirelessly for the betterment of our beloved organization. Most importantly, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of members and guests who traveled from near and far to attend the convention. Your presence, enthusiasm, and unwavering support are what make SANA the greatest Sindhi diaspora organization in the world. Let us continue to stand united in our shared purpose, respect one another despite our differences, and always place the interests of SANA above our individual interests. If we do so, I have no doubt that SANA’s best days are still ahead. With profound gratitude and warmest regards ❤️🙏

This webinar organized by SANA yesterday, on the latest existential threat to our beloved motherland, Sindh, in the form of the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment, was one of the finest programs we have organized during my current tenure of service. The quality of the discussion, depth of insights shared by our distinguished speakers, and level of engagement from participants made it a truly memorable and impactful event.
I encourage everyone to watch, share, and promote this webinar as widely as possible so that its valuable content can reach a broader audience and contribute to a more informed public discussion.
To put the matter into perspective, the United States Constitution has been amended only 27 times since its adoption in 1788. In contrast, Pakistan’s Constitution, which came into effect in 1973, is now facing its 28th amendment.
Sindhis and Baloch nations view this proposed amendment with deep concern, believing it will further centralize authority and diminish provincial autonomy. Affecting the rights, natural resources, and freedoms of these already marginalized indigenous nationalities.
it is essential that our community remains informed, engaged, and committed to constructive dialogue on issues that will have profound implications for the future of Sindh and its people.

Attached is the daily water situation report issued by the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on June 1, 2026. It shows a deeply alarming reality for the Indus River. According to the report, the downstream discharge at Kotri Barrage is zero (0) cusecs, meaning that no water is currently flowing beyond Kotri toward the Indus Delta and the Arabian Sea. A river reaches its natural conclusion when its waters flow to the ocean. When there is no downstream flow beyond the last major control structure, the river is effectively prevented from reaching its natural end. By that measure, the Indus River today can rightly be described as a dead river below Kotri, as its waters are no longer flowing to the sea. The consequences of this situation are profound and well documented. Including destruction of the Indus Delta ecosystem, seawater intrusion into fertile agricultural lands, loss of mangrove forests, declining fisheries, displacement of coastal communities, and irreversible environmental degradation. This is not just an existential threat to the survival of Sindh. It is an international environmental and humanitarian crisis. The attached IRSA data speak for themselves. As citizens and stakeholders, we must demand policies that ensure adequate environmental flows downstream of Kotri so that the Indus River can continue to sustain the delta, the coastal communities, and ultimately complete its natural journey to the sea. The Indus is not just a river; it is the lifeline of our history, culture, ecology, and future.

I, on behalf of Sindhis living in North America express deep concern over the abduction of Mr. Saeed Ahmed Memon, a retired Director of Excise & Taxation, Government of Sindh, who was taken by unknown armed individuals near Zehri Naka, District Sorab, Balochistan, on May 17, while traveling from Quetta to Karachi.
We are profoundly distressed by this incident and stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and loved ones during this painful period of uncertainty and anguish. The prolonged disappearance of any individual is a humanitarian concern, but this case is particularly alarming given Mr. Memon’s serious medical condition. As a patient who has undergone bypass surgery and requires regular medication, his health and well being may be at significant risk.
We join the family in appealing to all concerned authorities, civil society organizations, human rights groups, community leaders, and individuals of conscience to make every possible effort to secure the immediate and safe recovery of Mr. Saeed Ahmed Memon.
We firmly believe that every person has the fundamental right to life, liberty, dignity, and due process. We therefore call upon all relevant authorities to act urgently, investigate this matter thoroughly, and ensure his safe return to his family without delay.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Memon and his family. We hope and pray for his swift, safe, and unconditional release.
