The double standard in Ballon d’Or criteria is crazy. In 2018 Messi had 77G/A (most in Europe), won La Liga, both domestic cups, Pichichi and he finished FIFTH (5th!!!) in the Ballon d’Or. Behind 2 World Cup winners and the WC Golden Ball winner. The argument was “Messi didn’t win the UCL or the World Cup”

Now all of a sudden Mbappé and Kane’s goals are enough to win despite Mbappé going trophyless and Kane only winning Bundesliga & the cup

What makes it worse is Kane wasn’t even the POTY in Germany, that was Michael Olise. And Mbappé wasn’t POTY in Spain, that was LAMINE YAMAL, the rightful Ballon d’Or winner.

A mi no me ilusiona este FC Barcelona por la sexta y esas tonterías que tanto repiten los cules acomplejados. A mi que me importa si no la ganó esta temporada, siempre está presente en todos los años. Ya la ganaremos cuando tenga que ser.

Lo que realmente me ilusiona es ver a un culé decir "ojalá el Barça jugará mañana mismo", ese aficionado disfruta de este equipo y eso es lo que importa. Que nuestro Barça demuestre una gran clase de fútbol. Que un culé disfrute partido tras partido.

No soy aficionado únicamente por los títulos, soy aficionado por historia y filosofía. Siempre voy a valorar una Liga, una champions, una copa del rey o una Supercopa. Pero lo que más me importa es que jamás se renuncie al Cruyffismo. Jugar bien es lo que más importa se gane o no un título.

Maybe we have forgotten the criteria France Football listed for winning the Ballon d’Or, because it’s tiring to see unnecessary arguments about who should win the award.

The first criterion is individual performance, including outstanding statistics, decisive moments and impressive performances in key matches.

The second is team success, including trophies won with clubs and national teams, as well as the player’s vital role in those successes.

The third criterion is Fair Play, which includes on-field class, good behaviour and respect.

I don’t think this deserves any further explanation because it is lucid enough to understand.

Without disrespect to Kylian Mbappé, the second criterion significantly weakens his case among the favourites for the award. Irrespective of the fact that the award is primarily based on individual performance, no player exists in a vacuum. Every player exists within a team, and individual brilliance should ideally contribute to collective success.

Mbappé played a vital role for his team. Unfortunately, it didn’t lead to his team winning any trophies, not even a minor one.

This doesn’t mean his individual performance should be ignored. However, team success is EXPLICITLY part of the criteria, and that cannot simply be dismissed when discussing who deserves the Ballon d’Or.

It’s unnecessary to keep arguing this when the criteria are there to judge by. It's not hatred when one says Mbappé doesn't deserve to win it. He doesn't!
