I took care of a patient in the 90's, a Holocaust Survivor.

He said, "The day my parents and I were forced onto the cattle car, just moments before, I had watched a man who the Germans had thrown to the ground and kicked, stand back up and then pretend he was cooperating as they walked him toward the railway. Suddenly, he spun around, shoving one of his fingers so deep into one of the eyes of one of the Nazis that most of his finger disappeared. Of course, he was shot dead on the spot. I've spent much of my life wishing I would have been able to trade places with that man. His last statement on Earth was never to be forgotten by at least that one Nazi."

I've always remembered that story. I always will.

His enablers will deny their roles in his rise, his supporters will be shunned, his donors will be despised. His name will be a curse. His legacy will be a cautionary tale of destruction and hate.

It’s over, and the sooner the actuarial tables catch up, the better for the world. His grave will reek of ammonia. His hideous legacy deserves nothing more.
