The stoic philosophers said that getting drunk was like a self-inflicted madness. The only difference was the duration that it lasts for.

The philosopher is Zeno said that you can't trust a man who gets drunk. That's because when people get high or drunk they say things they shouldn't say or they mess things up for themselves in other ways.

Drinking a diet soda at the bar is so much better than getting drunk.
You save money, you don't gain weight, it tastes better, your mind is clearer, and you remember the memories. Not to mention that you are generally healthier in the long run when you live life this way.
Advertisers trick you into thinking that you need to drink when you're hanging out with people. That's how they make money.
Actually, when you're hanging out with friends you want to be the most clear minded because you want to be your true self.
Addiction limits the amount of options you have because it will always pull you towards the things that will make you relapse and away from the things that prevent you from relapsing.

Some people think that drugs or alcohol give you better clarity. That is total nonsense. They actually cause you to have less inhibitions and to reason less clearly. That is why you should never make decisions while intoxicated. It is always best to live a sober life.
If you reason clearly and think in detail about even the most difficult situations you can turn them into easier ones.
Reason is the answer to all of humanity's problems and you need to practice it and strengthen it like a muscle. #stoicism
Whenever you make a decision about something, lay the foundations early on. If you know you're correct in doing it you should feel no shame. #stoicism#addiction
The most intelligent and sober people are introspective and self-analysis their own thoughts.
Start reflecting about your thinking.
Is this thought necessary? Am I missing some important information? Are addictions pulling me towards certain choices?
#stoicphilosophy#sobriety
Things that are neither intelligent nor social are not worth your time. Alcohol and drugs are not social, even though advertisers might make you think that they are, and they're definitely not intelligent. Move past those things and focus on things that really matter.
The word every addict needs to know.
Prudence.
This is the ability to self-govern and self-discipline yourself.
Without it you grow weak and lazy in your life goes into turmoil and addiction. With it, you can achieve anything you want.

Master your urges. Don't ever give in to the persuasions of your body. This includes alcohol, drugs, sleepiness, hunger and any other body desires.
This makes us harder people able to live dinner no matter what life does to us. In ALL situations.
#stoicism#soberliving
One of the most powerful tools that you can use in life is to determine how much stability something provides you. Things that provide you more stability are good. Things that create chaos or instability are bad. Use this like a ruler to determine what's straight in life. #stoic
Addicts get so stubborn and in denial not only about their addiction, but about everything in life. Whenever somebody shows you a better way, don't be afraid to change your opinion.

@MaryBethO_ Mary, I have been posting on here for so long and you are the first person to acknowledge any of it. Thank you so much! It means a lot to me. ❤️❤️
Things that are social and good for the world are good and virtuous. Drugs and alcohol rob the world from the real, sober you. Eliminate them from your life. If you focus on being a positive influence on society, you will have a good life in return.
