Scandalous and shameful!
This photograph was taken at the Lambeth Awards 2026, at Lambeth Palace in London, on Friday, 11 September 2026.
It was the presentation of the Hubert Walter Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation.
The award was given to the Pakistani Muslim cleric Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, who is pictured here with his wife and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally.
But who exactly was being honoured?
In September 2007, Ashrafi said that he would give Osama bin Laden the Islamic title “Saifullah”, “Sword of God”. He described bin Laden as a mujahid who had been fighting for Islam against the Russians, Americans and British, and referred to him in the context of jihad against “infidels”.
And this man was given an award for reconciliation and interfaith cooperation on 11 September 2026, the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, carried out by al-Qaeda under Osama bin Laden’s leadership.
In Kyiv Oblast, the Russian forces have killed a doctor, anesthesiologist Maryna Kalabina, Ukraine's Minister of Health Viktor Liashko reported.
Her car came under fire as she was rushing her injured nephew to the hospital from the village of Kukhari in Kyiv Oblast.
It is sad to be talking about Conflict Nephrology in the 21st centry. Humans can sacrifice their fellow human beings for the sake of power. This issue of Seminars in nephrology is a valuable reference that can help nephrologists in war Zones. “War is evil”
