Thank you @ReddenCourt for allowing me to come and speak to your amazing staff about homelessness.
The work you are doing around this topic should be acknowledged and amplified. I feel lucky to be part of this inspirational journey to support your homeless students. 🙏
Thank you to Educational Psychologist, Marc Pescod from @LBofHavering who lead staff training on Thursday about Homelessness.
Marc spoke about the reasons how/why people become homeless and the ways we as a school can play our part in making their lives a little easier 🏠
Had such an amazing sessions with some passionate school staff all striving to support homelessness in their school. There is some incredible practice going on in Havering!...and it is just the start. Watch this space 😬😬
Over the last year, since starting the Homelessness Project in Havering, supporting schools and my SEND colleague with homelessness, I hear stories about this all the time. It's not okay and things needs to change. #homelessness#notokay
People with disabilities are living in temporary accommodation without working lifts, leaving them trapped in their rooms. The next government must address our acute accessible housing shortage #GeneralElection

Absolutely buzzing about being named as one of the 40 people under 40 to watch in the housing sector. Huge thank you to @insidehousing for the recognition, and I can't wait to get started on making an impact. #housing2024
At #housing2024 conference talking about the future of the housing system. Illuminating the current lack of vision and perspective woth regards to housing. A 'long transformative approach is needed'. I'm ready, where do I sign?

Calling EPs interested in Homelessness 📢
Please consider signing this petition calling for changes in the #CriminalJusticeBill relating to rough sleeping/begging.

The bill pertains to "nuisance begging" and "nuisance rough sleep". This language will only push people experiencing homelessness further into the margins of society.
📢 Call for papers for a Special Edition of Educational and Child Psychology on Homelessness and Education.

@simonotstreets has written a great article for teachers on how to support children facing homelessness. They suggest Creating Stability, Creating a Safe Environment and Building Confidence. All of these are so important to making school a positive place.

“…if they don’t take it, you get taken off the list. But then if you do take it, then you also get taken off the list. So, now I am stuck in this place”.
Lack of control for our homeless families is a real problem. It significantly impacts parent's well-being and drains any autonomy they once had. See some powerful quotes from Groundwell's much needed research
