"When O’Keeffe took the lead shortly after halfway, she looked the most comfortable of any athlete in the lead pack and mile after mile only got stronger. The 25-year-old smoothly opened up a gap on Sisson, 2015 Boston Marathon champ Caroline Rotich, and 2:20 runner Sara Hall and never looked back.

In March 2023, the Release Recovery Foundation assembled a team of six runners to participate in The Speed Project – an annual unsanctioned 340-mile relay race from the Santa Monica Pier to the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.

While some teams compete to determine who is the fastest, the Release Recovery Foundation's mission was to complete the race and raise more than $34,000 to fund treatment for addicts and alcoholics who cannot afford treatment otherwise.
