To sum it up: President Trump is convinced his tariff strategy will work although he concedes there will be pain and it will take time. The crucial question is HOW LONG Americans will give him to lower their costs and create the jobs he promised, before their patience runs out.

@TreeBearsDeep That's just it. He isn't making history with something out-of-the-box. Think Smoot Hawley tariffs in the 1930s or President Mckinley tariffs in 1890. Neither worked.

What I find more difficult to fathom than President Trump’s ignorance of the consequences of his tariff policy (domestically & globally) is the fact that a majority of Americans elected him. He is clearly not a student of history, nor are, it would seem, a majority of Americans.
