Playlists have always been core to how people experience Spotify (there are nearly 9 billion user-generated playlists and counting). And now, we're making that experience even better and giving users more control over how things flow. Check out our new playlist transitions, rolling out in beta to Premium users this week and let me know what you think.

This was our announcement for Spotify launching in the U.S., 14 years ago.

At the time, we weren’t sure if people here would embrace it the same way they had in Europe. We launched invite only because we didn’t know what kind of demand to expect, or honestly if we were even ready for it 😅That changed quickly. Word spread faster than we imagined, and within weeks we had to open it up to everyone. I still remember those conversations: wondering if American users would get the value of streaming, if we could compete in a market where piracy was so widespread, and if our small team could support it.

Looking back, it was a leap but one I’m grateful we took.

Yooo! Today is special. We hit a significant milestone in our continued growth.

Reaching 250m+ subs has been an 18-year journey of building and scaling through teamwork, hunger and focus on delivery.

To everyone at Spotify past and present who has played a role - pls enjoy this moment.

And a big thank you to every subscriber and the artists, creators and authors who entertain and inspire us.

We’re testing out a new feature to make your playlists more personal… you can now customize the cover art for the playlists you create. I’ll be on the lookout to see what you come up with. Here’s how to do it 🔽

You guys have been really loving daylist! (searches last week went up 20,000%). Lesser known fact - the idea for daylist actually came out of a hack week (a thing we do to let teams innovate outside their day job). Here’s a few of mine from the last few days … it seems daylist spares no one 🤣💀

For 4 years in a row, KAROL G has been the most streamed female Latin music artist globally on Spotify and now she’s the latest artist to take over FC Barcelona’s shirt. It’s no surprise to anyone that the growth of Latin music has been massive over the last few years - as has the reach of fútbol across new markets, so it’s very cool to see these two worlds colliding. 🤝 ⚽️Excited to see these on the field.️

@rob_fitzpatrick Wow - are you accepting bids?
