Cortaron mucho.
Ryan Coogler has now added his name to legacy. Following tonight's win, Coogler makes history as the second Black filmmaker to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Jordan Peele first broke that barrier in March 2018 when he became the first Black writer to win in the category for 'Get Out,' reshaping the genre and the industry in the process.
These wins signify Black storytelling is original. And when given the space, it is undeniable. 🖤
Ryan Coogler and Delroy Lindo receive a standing ovation at the NAACP Image Awards:
‘We appreciate all of the support and love we have been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend … it is an honor to be here amongst our people’
Let’s not forget that history was made last night.
Ryan Coogler became the first Black person to win a BAFTA for Original Screenplay and Wunmi Mosaku became the first Black British winner of best supporting actress👑👑

Sixty-one years ago today, Brother Malcolm X [el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz], was assassinated. Many lost a leader, but a wife, Betty Shabazz, lost her husband and young daughters lost their father.
I am holding his dear daughters close in prayer today.
