@DonCorleANN Yes, the Ancient Greeks thought silence was a virtue of women; when in fact it was their way of withdrawing women from society, limiting their freedoms, and any form of vocality against the crimes of the patriarchy.
@ellieokwilson Because rape culture has been engrained in our society for so long. My dissertation discusses how the ancient Greeks were so obsessed with it that their literary authors had to create a coded language to protect rape victims from further verbal assault.
