@Lahiss@xereeto@jjellisart The US is not the only country where it is being used,in countries with free/accessible healthcare, it is certainly saving lives, China has three times the population of the US and this is already standard practice, not to mention how it saves lives outside the healthcare sector
@Varsevan@LieutenantRusty That's right, but the costs are simply on completely different scales. If it's uncontested airspace, it might be cheaper, but if it is, you have to add in the previous SEAD/DEAD missions, air escort, EW, AWACS flights, etc.
@LieutenantRusty A GBU requires an aircraft to approach within 20km, exposing an aircraft that costs orders of magnitude more and human lives, not to mention the logistical cost of putting an aircraft to release a GBU to a long-distance target
@steelineYT@ClassicCodNjoyr@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ That's what I'm saying; in total, counting those two, there are seven claims of air-to-air shootdowns, but none have been confirmed. If it can't be confirmed by independent means, it can't be counted
@Medicfox@visionergeo Perhaps in a scenario like Asia-Pacific, I don't see how you can launch ~550 of these munitions per day in a scenario other than a total war with China or Russia, or against Iran for example, even in a high tempo, You don't launch that much top tier ammunition per day
@ClassicCodNjoyr@steelineYT@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ I understand the point, and perhaps it could apply to the F-4, since there are ~25 Unconfirmed claims in a massive theater of operations, but for the F-15 there are only 7, why no one has proven beyond a doubt that 7 (or at least 1) were actually shot down in air-to-air combat?
@innominabile888@HermanArgonathX@AlTopeyPunto891 Bro, you can literally see the planes disappear and reappear. At the beginning of the video there are three planes in the foreground, then halfway through the one in the middle disappears, And at the end of the video, the one in the middle reappears in a different position
@steelineYT@_JETFIGHTERMAN_ You don't know how an aircraft's kill record works, do you? They only count enemy air-to-air combat; friendly fire and anti-aircraft fire don't affect the record, and that's how it's been measured since aerial combat began to be studied decades ago
@Lorelle281281@AMK_Mapping_ That doesn't depend on the pilot; the decision to engage an enemy is often not made by the pilot, but by the command staff with information from the entire airspace, combined information from the fighter jets, AWACS and ground radars
