The Nations Cup season has finally come to an end. To be fair, I didn’t put much practice into it this time. But looking at the results, the gap between the top 10 and the rest of the field is massive. That kind of point spread turns the competition into something that really only benefits a small group of people who might actually gain something from it.
I truly believe the best drivers earned their spots and deserved to qualify for the World Finals, so congratulations to them. But honestly, it's worrying. There aren’t many new players reaching this level, and when they do, they lack the exposure they need. Unless you qualify for a World Tour event, an incredibly difficult task, you get almost no visibility.
Dealing with that kind of pressure and those margins is extremely tough. Without exposure or support, it’s nearly impossible to break through, get noticed, and eventually find sponsors. And without that backing, it’s hard to push yourself to the limit and truly grow. That, to me, is one of the biggest limitations of the current system.
I really hope things change in the future. We need a better structure for the Nations Cup, something beyond just the Nations and Manufacturers Cups. Those are great events, but they’re designed for a very small group of elite players.
I'm not just speaking as a content creator. I’d genuinely love to see more people getting the chance to compete, gain exposure, and grow within and beyond Gran Turismo. That kind of visibility could open doors to real-world racing opportunities, which is what this should all be about.
So yeah, the system needs a few changes. There are great players out there who just aren’t being seen, and the way things are now doesn’t allow for that. But that’s a topic for a much longer post.
For now, congrats again to everyone who made it through. You earned it.
Am I the only one who thinks having 2 races a week is completely nonsensical? Only 3/4 days to practice for an official season race is completely ludicrous and a slap in the face to those who don’t have the time to sit and practice every single day #GT7
