I used to think Primus was simply another privacy focused project in DeFi. The more I looked into @primus_labs the more I realized that description misses the bigger picture.
It’s not just about keeping data private, and it’s not just about proving that something is true. The interesting part is bringing both together.
With zero knowledge proofs and technologies like zkTLS, the goal is to verify specific information without exposing everything behind it.
Think about institutional finance for a second. Funds need to prove their credibility, validate certain data and build trust with counterparties. At the same time, they can’t afford to make every position and transaction visible to the entire market.
That’s where the combination becomes important.
Privacy and transparency aren’t necessarily competing goals. In many cases, you need both for onchain finance to work at a much larger scale.
I’m still digging into the technical details of how Primus approaches offchain data verification through zkTLS, but the broader vision is starting to make sense:
make information verifiable without making everything public.
That could be a meaningful piece of the puzzle for bringing more institutional activity onchain
Primus Labs is working on a key challenge in Web3: how to bring real world information onchain while keeping sensitive data private.
The project builds around two core technologies: zkTLS and FHE
With zkTLS, users can verify information from online sources, whether it’s a financial balance, transaction history or identity related data, without exposing the actual details behind it.
FHE adds another layer of privacy by making it possible to process encrypted information without revealing the original data during computation.
Together, these technologies open the door to several use cases, including Proof of Reserves, confidential payments, onchain credit systems, DeFi applications and verifiable data for AI agents.
Rather than launching a separate blockchain @primus_labs is building infrastructure that existing networks and applications can integrate to bring privacy and data verification into their ecosystems.
The team has raised $6.5M and is already developing tools and products designed for encrypted computation and real time reserve verification.
The bigger picture is simple: Primus Labs aims to make blockchain data more reliable and practical to use, while allowing individuals and institutions to maintain control over their private information.
