Loving wife and mom, voracious reader, avid writer, superhero vigilante... ok not that last one. Haunting Fbx AK, doing things she probably shouldn't. SCBWI AWG
I am so sorry for all the @USPS agents who have to deal with customers who have been wading thru the nightmare phone tree--getting hung up on 3x, being misunderstood endlessly, the computer inexplicably adding zeroes, etc--before they are FINALLY allowed to talk to a human.
Of course, this is assuming I will ever be allowed to talk to a human. Still waiting for that part. I wasn't an angry customer before, but they're doing their best to make sure that I am before I ever speak to anyone.
@yeaitsyourmom I did ROTC but didnโt have gun safety training in school. Definitely did at home & scout camp, but all we did in ROTC was march around with demilitarized rifles that were closer to clubs than firearms at that point. Not sure how gun safety would help in a school shooting ๐คท
I am so tired of going to checkout from American companies' sites and then getting slapped w/ an "international surcharge". Alaska has been a state since 1959, a territory since 1912, & a possession since 1867. We use US dollars, Fahrenheit, & miles. We are not international.
Alright, rando citizens of the internet, I need advice. We need a new vacuum cleaner, as our now nearly 16yo vacuum cleaner isn't doing it anymore. Are dysons worth the expense? Hubby's interested in them, but they seem suuuuper overpriced for something only guaranteed for 5 yrs.
@codenamewallaby Yep, in Alaska. I had them in an insulated henhouse with a heat lamp on, but a cold snap back in January was too much for the poor girls. The standard practice in AK is to euthenize the hive each fall, but I and a handful of others have been trying to winter over. No luck so far.
Okay, why is "the chicken or the egg" billed as such a big conundrum? It was obviously the egg. Eggs existed millions of years before chickens did. Am I reading this wrong? And more importantly, why am I burning so much brain power on this?
@codenamewallaby Nice! I always keep the same breed. I live across the street from an elementary school so having gentle bees is important, haha. They're not the greatest at wintering over where I live, though. I'm glad yours made it!
Tech is getting creepy, man. I had a dream with some actor in it last night and never said anything about it to anyone, but this morning, this same actor is all over my Chrome homepage! Creepy!
I get not wanting to give your # to someone you just met but please don't tell me about this time-sensitive resource for my kids but the only way to get ahold of you for it is through a closed Facebook group and so I go ask to be let in the group and then sit in purgatory forever
Friends! Feel free to ignore this SHAMELESS PLUG FOR MONEY! 8yo is doing a math-a-thon for St. Jude, which took amazing care of my nephew& family last fall (& still does when things get bad& he has to go back). But srsly, FEEL FREE TO IGNORE. No judgement! https://t.co/NGBvNfQR2U
@NotAnotherExit Definitely more than two a year. Honestly itโs a little frustrating but I donโt feel like there are options for parents. Iโm not gonna make him sit in the library doing worksheets while his friends all go bowling and play at the ice park.
I know this makes me a bad Millenial mom, but I despise the thousand field trips my kids are constantly going on. Each one comes with its own price tag and it's taking time out of instruction and half the time, it's entirely noneducational. Seriously, bowling???
And these "permission" slips aren't even really asking at this point. They're just like, "You need to send us $12." Opting out isn't even mentioned anywhere. They know you're going to just shut up and send the money because all of your kids' friends are going and be COOL, mom.
