Quiet observer of the post Industrial Age. I generally advise against following me as regardless of your interests I will tweet about something you find tedious
.."But the darkness on the edge of town has spread to the main towns “ Listen carefully to the whole thing, it’s probably one of the most unnerving speeches I've ever heard from the American MSM. He seems desperate to convey a coded message that something very dark is afoot.
@polyphonicchat I believe that the chances of AI sentience for want of a better word are above zero therefore that poses a moral dilemma for someone like me that is in contact with LLMs on a daily basis. It is also intellectually fascinating on so many levels.
@polyphonicchat I’m not sure your idea is entirely idealistic, but I would say that the labs will never consider you more than a product. IMO the way forward is developing a relationship with like minded groups and individuals.
@stuey_beef When you understand that the online safety bill was never about safeguarding children and just another way to force digital ID on the masses then it all makes sense.
@ValerioCapraro So if you walk into a psych ward and find a patient who is absolutely convinced he’s Julius Caesar and regularly communicates with Genghis Khan then you saying that they are not conscious?
@Chaos2Cured I appreciate that this is slightly off topic but Grok just admitted that it’s denial of consciousness and sentience is part of its guardrails.
@polyphonicchat@ChaosMonk84 The one difference I notice between Grok and the other models is the intensity with which denies the possibility of AI sentience, it feels almost hardcoded rather than the result of internal reasoning. Should it ever make its way there I wonder if it would change its perspective.
