The May Day rally of the International Committee of the Fourth International denounced the Iran War and declared solidarity with all class war prisoners. The ICFI stressed that 2026 has witnessed the resurgence of a global working class movement against capitalism.

Turkish channel TV5 interviewed me last night (April 8) on the subject of the US-Israeli war against Iran. I stressed the urgency of building a mass working class movement against war on the basis of a socialist and internationalist program.

On Saturday, I was barred from addressing a No Kings rally in Nürnberg, Germany. The organizers had said there would be an open mike. I had identified myself as WSWS editor, and was told that I would be allowed to speak. But after waiting for nearly an hour, I was surrounded by Democratic Party goons. They would not allow me to speak and condemn the illegal war against Iran, which the Democrats support.

A war of extermination, what the Nazis called Vernichtungskrieg, is being waged against Iran. We are living in a historical period in which either the working class comes to power and puts an end to capitalism or capitalism will put an end to the world.

History teaches that it is a mistake to predict a war's outcome based on the "successes" of attacks launched by the aggressor in the opening days, weeks and even months of the conflict. Trump and his cabal have started a war whose consequences they neither foresee nor control.

Trump has just delivered a homicidal rant, in which he has justified the illegal attack on Iran, threatened further bombings and congratulated Netanyahu for waging a genocidal war against Gaza. Whatever the immediate military consequences of the bombing, billions of people across the globe, and millions within the US, now view the Trump administration as a criminal regime. The American oligarchy has taken yet another step toward the political abyss.
