@Math_World_ I'm a bit late to the party, but I didn't find any solutions that used trigonometric functions like I had.
2^x + 2^-x = 2
e^(ln(2)*x) + e^(ln(2)*-x) = 2
2*cosh(ln(2)*x) = 2
cosh(ln(2)*x) = 1
ln(2)*x = acosh(1)
x = acosh(1)/ln(2)
x = 0
Another way to look at the problem.
I've been working on a side project (i.e. procrastinating) for the last few months that I think is at a point where I am willing to share it with the public.
