@ScriptsByJames I'm a writer, so how is it that I can see faults and issues with other people's scripts, including produced scripts, but cannot see any issues with my own?

When you’re reading a script, within how long can YOU tell whether the writer knows what they’re doing?

I’m *not* asking how many pages you read, that depends on context, but rather how fast you can go “oh yeah, they know what they’re doing.”

A page? 5 pages? 1/2 page? 1 scene?

A ton of great comments and answers in this thread. Just a reminder, being precious can kill your career... And as a TV writer, u can still get full credit and make $200K + residuals for 5 months of work on a show where not one of your lines makes it on screen... ahh Hollywood.

@DannyManus Yup. I sent my script to a very prestigious British broadcasting company. I checked it back to see it was OK. The typo leapt out at me. Always too late to pull the script and correct it. Haven't rejected me yet tho!

We received a total of 4718 submissions to our Open Call which closed last Thursday. Our reading team are working hard but it will be several months before anyone hears the outcome. We'll be selecting writers for our Drama Room and Voices groups. Thanks to everyone who entered!
