Ss learn to use variables and conditional statements by writing a program to make Evo count the amount of goals scored. If statements are based on the color of goals and boundaries. Ss must use sensor codes to avoid collisions. #coding#variables@Ozobot@WesterlySchool
Adapted @CommonSenseEd's 4th grade lesson on online gaming and chatting to include the digital creation of a video game cover that includes positive chat feature rules. Ss utilize #googledrawings, learning drag and drop, augmenting, & arranging. #digitalcitizenship#OnlineSafety
5th grade completed their mini lightsaber designs using @tinkercad. A fun lesson for teaching Ss how to create negative space & "drill" holes in their design. Ss must measure & convert cm to mm precisely in order for the glow stick to fit properly.@WesterlySchool THX @EDUreboot
1st graders were stoked with their fairy doors. Big shoutout to @EDUreboot for the idea and guidance. They tied in perfectly with the annual fairy tale unit. I love it when @cueinc conference inspirations come to fruition! @cuelosangeles#makerspace#fairydoors@WesterlySchool
Kinder Ss use @Makedo tools to construct cardboard racers. Glued straws to the base, added dowels with wooden wheels and tested their models on a ramp. Ss were encouraged to cheer on each other's racer. #stem#engineering#makerspace@WesterlySchool#Kindergarten
Some teaching tips for littles (K-2)
1) Have the Ss color, cut, and then place the flowers and hive without gluing them. If Ss place the flowers too close to their marker lines the robot may traverse onto the flowers (which is kinda cool actually ๐)
2) Encourage patience! ๐
