@mcareetrixie@angelawev@AlanaHunt_RM@GibbleJo @EastonCharlotte @wayofthekoi I totally know how correct that is … tge 2.5 years we worked COC the feedback from our Mothers was phenomenal …. Despite all this evidence we have Trusts who can disregard these facts for what THEY believe is their idea in problem solving. NOT listening to Mothers or Midwives!!
@LouiseWackett1@Anna202184 This is where MCOC is so vital. High risk pregnancies can still have the ‘fluffy’ stuff. Relational care is so the key. All of your caseload can benefit from having their Team with them throughout the pregnancy continuum. It maintains your skills in all areas of care. #withwoman
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM Too many given posts to collate statistics when they would be better served working as clinical midwives. It is a disgrace how many potential pairs of hands are sitting in offices while woman are being left unsupported by a midwife. Their colleagues are on their knees…. Sort it!
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM Due to midwife shortages. It is so sad and shameful to hear these stories. Midwives are in dire shortage and cannot be replaced quickly. I can see no light at the end of the tunnel. It’s all a mess!
It’s not like this because of COC implementation. There are too many managers.
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM When we had a change of midwife one mother said that although she hadn’t met that particular midwife she still felt relaxed knowing she was part of her team.
Now few stories we are getting to hear of being left on the ward or in triage labouring with no support
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM The disbanded teams are / will lose their midwives who loved and were passionate about CoC. We had a shining example of how team CoC could work. We were able to get 55% of named or buddy midwife in labour with the remainder by the team. We made a huge effort to meet each mother
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM Are no longer clinical. In my trust COC did not cause the current staffing issue. We actually had some very happy midwives who by doing CoC supported their colleagues in the unit. That support has alsr been withdrawn …. More pressure for the core staff.
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM Due to a serious shortage of midwives.
The shortage is NOT due to continuity. Many i ok ther factors, change in management, lack of regard for the midwife as a person.
Huge caseloads, too many woman and not enough staffing with little or no support from senior midwives who
@ShaunLintern@MidwivesRCM I’m sorry but I have to disagree that COC is why midwife’s are leaving in droves.
We had CIC disbanded in May. #we had as n excellent model that saw 98.8% continuity. We loved it the woman loved it and it was amazing. Our trust had 2 teams and both were disbanded
@JamesTitcombe I cannot see how this mess can be fixed quickly… it won’t be.
Disbanding my team has made little or no difference to the situation in my trust anyways. It makes it harder to accept and truly has broken me and my team!
@JamesTitcombe We are falling apart at the seams. My heart aches for these mothers who I can no longer give COC too. Mothers need midwives they know with them during the pregnancy continuum.
My case load has tripled. There are too many woman, not enough midwives and no time or space to see.
@JamesTitcombe Particularly if it is the team approach… you then don’t rely on just you. You CAN have a work life balance! Too much emphasis now on data collection. Too many midwives becoming non clinical due to having soo much clerical work to do. The service needs hands on midwives.
@JamesTitcombe At least half of that appointment time needed to complete electronic records in order to me required standards for CNST!
Midwives please do not be afraid of COC. Building strong relationships with your mothers and being there when they have their new baby is a priveledge
@JamesTitcombe I have just had my amazing COC team of 2.5 years disbanded in order for us to boost the shortages in the general community. I can say I feel like I have been dropped into hell. This is not midwifery… task orientated conveyer belt with a 30 min appt …
