Ending a busy weekend
After celebrating the 75th birthday of the great industrialist, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, in Umuahia, Abia State yesterday, I journeyed to Asaba, Delta State, to commission a restaurant - a modest but inspiring micro-business that I was very happy to be part of.
A year ago, the twin sisters who work with Air Peace at Asaba Airport and usually greet me whenever I pass through, told me they were planning to start a small restaurant. They prayed it would succeed, and I encouraged them. I reminded them that starting a business in Nigeria is never easy, but with focus and the right practices, they could thrive.
About three months ago, they sent me a message saying they had finally begun. They admitted it was difficult, but they were coping, and things were looking promising. They then informed me that after one year, they would like to unveil their restaurant formally, and it would be their greatest joy if I could be part of the event and commission it. I promised them I would, to support and encourage their endeavour.
To my surprise and delight, shortly before the commissioning yesterday, I discovered that they now employ over twelve people. What began as a dream in the hearts of two determined sisters has blossomed into a source of livelihood for many others.
What I witnessed is a clear testimony to what production and enterprise can do for a nation. Imagine if we had one million such small businesses, each employing ten people - that alone would provide ten million jobs.
Small businesses remain the greatest employers of labour in every economy - from the largest, such as the USA and China, to the fastest-developing ones like India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Nigeria, too, can multiply such success stories if only we create the right environment and support micro and small businesses.

With a weighty heart, on behalf of the entire Obidient family, I regret to announce the untimely passing of our dear sister and comrade, Hon. Clarita Ogar, who was the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate for Yala/Ogoja in the 2023 General elections.
I reached out to her family a few days ago and they informed me about the sad news. I want to again sincerely offer my condolences on behalf of my family and the Obidient family.
@clarita_ogar was not just a patriot but also a fearless woman who stood for justice and a better Nigeria.
May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give her family and all of us the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss.
God Almighty continue to bless her family and all the Obidient family always. -PO

@PeterObi We are living through a nightmare. We no longer have the strength to cry. We just wake up and ask, “How many people have been killed today”. Another village. Another family. Another mass grave.

Who is going to listen to the cries of families whose beloved members are being killed, maimed, wounded, and internally displaced in a country not at war?
Regrettably, we have now normalised the fact that our nation bleeds with everyday bloodshed.
Again, the headlines today screamed of more bloodshed, with 15 people killed in Sokoto, 6 killed in Kwara, and over 600 Nigerian citizens from Niger state still missing since the flooding are now been presumed dead. How much more can we take?
Yesterday it was 10 in Anambra, and before then 37 people were killed in Yobe. Who will listen to our pain? Who will hear the silent cries of a nation waking up every morning to news of bloodshed, sorrow, and loss with families scattered in IDP camps?
We are living through a nightmare. We no longer have the strength to cry. We just wake up and ask, “How many people have been killed today”. Another village. Another family. Another mass grave.
We are tired.
We are broken.
Nigerians are living in fear of steady insecurity. When will it end?
We cannot survive much longer like this. May we, as a country, now take the security of life seriously? Not with words or empty condolences, but with action. Because no nation moves forward while its people live in fear of dying every day.

U have to understand the dynamics of politics. "No permanent enemy and no permanet friend" What we have now is a coalition, bringing both good and bad people together into one platform to work for the betterment of the people. @PeterObi has told u that if he's not corrupt, nobody will corrupt in his government. We don't care what people maybe saying about the coalition, we just want to remove the lawless Tinubu. Lauretta Onochie is from Buhari's camp, they are in the coalition. If u are not interested in the battle to remove Tinubu, then u can go and Vote for Tinubu. The battle to remove Tinubu is on! "If u rig, u DIE"
