Dani California is the first single from the album Stadium Arcadium (2006) and marked the great return of the Red Hot Chili Peppers after years of ups and downs. John Frusciante created that guitar riff, but when the band listened, everyone noticed at the time: the groove was very similar to Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance".
The similarity generated speculation at the time, but Tom Petty was calm: in an interview with Rolling Stone, he said that he doubted any evil intentions and that "many rock songs sound similar," without suing.
The clip directed by Tony Kaye is incredible: RHCP plays in different eras of rock (from the 50s to the 2000s), with costumes and styles changing with the decades. Released in April 2006, the single reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, spent 14 weeks at #1 on Modern Rock and won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 2007.
I wasn’t searching for this tweet, but this tweet from the day before he was inaugurated showed up in my search & now I’m crying because everybody has forgotten what a good & decent man Joe Biden has always been
@JoeBiden
On this day in 1977, Rumours by Fleetwood Mac was released, and somehow turned absolute emotional chaos into one of the greatest albums ever made.
It’s not just an album, it’s a reminder that sometimes the mess fuels the magic. All these years later, Rumours still sounds just as raw, honest, and unforgettable...🎶
🚨 I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it was President @JoeBiden who secured the release of 140 hostages in Gaza. Trump? Just 28.
That means Biden was responsible for 83% of all the hostages freed — yet you’d never know it from the way the media talks.
If anyone deserves the title “Peace President,” it’s #46 — not the guy bombing fishing boats in international waters and sending masked agents to terrorize Americans.
