Another brilliant book by @MargsRooke launched tonight, hearing from a stream of amazingly articulate young people with dyslexia sharing how they have found fulfilling careers after school - from selling Fairtrade nuts to bring a social housing manager to signalman on railways.
To every child with #dyslexia or a learning difference:
Don’t let anyone — not even the President of the United States — make you feel small.
When influential voices dismiss, mock or misunderstand learning differences, it matters.
Not because they are right — but because children are listening.
And what they hear can shape how they see themselves.
So let’s be absolutely clear.
Dyslexia is not a weakness.
It never has been.
It’s a different way of thinking.
A different way of seeing the world.
Often a gateway to creativity, problem-solving and big-picture brilliance.
Some of the most innovative, resilient and successful people think this way.
What is damaging is ignorance.
What is unacceptable is using power to belittle rather than to uplift.
Our job — as parents, educators and leaders — is to do the opposite.
To notice strengths.
To build confidence.
To create environments where every child feels capable, valued and understood.
Because children with dyslexia don’t need fixing.
They need championing.
And that starts with all of us.

"Thames Water sewage spills set for record high."
Hard to believe isn't it, even after all of the outrage, all of the publicity, all of the anger Thames Water is well on course to dump more sewage this year than at any point in the last 10 years.
Time for govt to act, time to take back TW.

You'll want to be sitting down for this bit.
Water companies are currently £82.7 billion in debt, have paid themselves £85 billion in dividends, leak over a trillion of litres of water per year, dump sewage for almost 4 million hours per year, have been convicted of over 1,200 criminal acts since 1989 and an average of 35% of your bill goes on nothing but paying more interest and yet more dividends.
And not a single company has ever lost their operating licence. 👇
Yesterday evening, during our book club for children with a parent in prison, we read Gracie's Story - a chapter in 'Different Like Us' by @MargsRooke .
The book looks at how children and teens who feel out of step with their classmates, find their paths to inner strength and create the lives they want to lead.
Back in 2023, we put forward several young people (including Gracie) with a parent in prison to contribute to this book.
During last night's book club, the young people discussed how they could relate to themes from Gracie's Story, and how they each cope with and process difficult feelings around having a parent in prison.
We are delighted for the opportunity to have our peer support led by the experiences of young people with a parent in prison.
Thank you to @giveabookorg and Margaret Rooke!

In today’s education news 🏫 The DfE has announced that all teachers and school staff will receive SEND and inclusion training. For many parents and teachers, this will feel long overdue. The job has changed, pupils’ needs have changed, and training hasn’t always kept pace.
Little boy is fitted with his first prosthetic leg and immediately proceeds to walk 💪😭
