Fazle Karim Chowdhury’s ailing body appears to be collapsing under the strain, yet both his hands remain shackled in handcuffs. He should be in a hospital, but instead he is being brought before the tribunal. Is this what the “New Bangladesh” is supposed to be?
There is not even the slightest basis of truth to these cases or allegations before the tribunal. Yet Awami League leaders are being routinely harassed and subjected to vindictive treatment. When will this cruelty end?

The Politics of Burning Down Homes Under the Cover of Darkness: The Fascist Aggression of the BNP-Jamaat Nexus
——
The ancestral home of Mirza Shafiqul Islam Swapan, former chairman of Dorikandi Union in Brahmanbaria’s Bancharampur Upazila and a leader of the Upazila Jubo League, has been deliberately set on fire and reduced to ashes.
This was not an accidental incident. Rather, it is a brutal manifestation of the reign of violence and arson that, according to this account, BNP-Jamaat extremist groups have unleashed across the country against leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations since 2024.
Since the change of government, the disorder and violence allegedly created by the BNP-Jamaat nexus at the local level have left the homes of opposition political leaders and activists without adequate security. Burning down homes is neither a political movement nor legitimate politics. It is simply an act of violence. This cowardly arson demonstrates how violent and emboldened the BNP-Jamaat nexus has become.

They tried to erase Bangabandhu’s legacy. They tried to silence the Awami League. They tried to rewrite the history of Bangladesh.
But history cannot be erased by tearing down monuments, removing portraits or persecuting political voices.
Sheikh Hasina has faced exile, imprisonment, assassination attempts, political persecution and unimaginable personal loss. Yet she returned to Bangladesh in 1981, stood before millions, and continued the struggle to uphold the ideals of the Liberation War.
After August 2024, she was forced into exile once again.
But exile is not the end of a political journey.
She has said she will return.
And her supporters believe that when Sheikh Hasina returns to Bangladesh, she will not return alone. She will return with the memory of Bangabandhu, the spirit of 1971, and the hopes of millions who believe the history and ideals of Bangladesh cannot be erased.
The struggle continues. The return will be greater than ever.

Birthdays are for hope.
Today we celebrate a life dedicated to building a modern, inclusive Bangladesh. We remember the years when roads reached remote villages, electricity lit up homes, girls went to school in greater numbers, and the country stood tall against extremism. Those achievements were never just projects—they were promises of dignity and opportunity.
On this birthday we hold tightly to hope: hope that development will return stronger, that freedom of expression will flourish, that women’s safety will once again be a national priority, and that justice will reach those who prey on the vulnerable. May the coming year bring renewed strength and a brighter chapter for every Bangladeshi.
Warmest wishes on your special day.

On her 79th birthday, Bangladesh should remember what Sheikh Hasina’s leadership made possible.
Fifteen years of economic growth, landmark infrastructure, Digital Bangladesh, poverty reduction, and a country increasingly confident on the global stage.
She survived the loss of her entire family, exile, imprisonment and repeated attempts on her life—and still returned to serve Bangladesh.
Today, as the country faces political uncertainty, economic anxiety and questions over its democratic future, her record matters more than ever.
For millions of Bangladeshis, Sheikh Hasina represents more than a political leader. She represents resilience, development and the ambition of a Bangladesh that refuses to remain poor or powerless.
Her vision of Smart Bangladesh was a roadmap for the future. Her return, for her supporters, represents the hope of restoring Bangladesh’s development trajectory and democratic institutions.

Hundreds of those 900+ bodies pulled from the rivers remain unidentified
- No name. No justice. No closure for families still searching.
Criminals dump their victims in the water knowing the system will bury the evidence - and often the body - without answers. After 5 August 2024, the dead have become statistics and the living have become targets.

Why Her Leadership Symbolizes Hope and Resilience for Bangladesh 🇧🇩
September 28th marks more than just a calendar date—it is an occasion to celebrate the enduring spirit, vision, and determination of Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina.
On this day we not only celebrate a leader, but also recognize a vision that once transformed the everyday lives of millions. We remember the roads that connected distant villages to opportunity, the electricity that lit up homes after dark, the schools that opened doors for girls, and the quiet confidence that women could walk safely in their own streets. We remember a time when the country moved steadily forward, when extremism was confronted with resolve, and when justice was not just a word but a living promise.

Under their own rule, the law-and-order situation has collapsed, with records of murder, rape, mob killings and enforced disappearances. Yet the Home Minister stands on a stage, boasting about eliminating the Awami League and even announcing rewards for doing so.
From February to September, in just seven months, 21,756 cases were filed across seven categories. There were 1,789 murders and 11,165 cases of violence against women and children. There were 317 attacks on police. Between January and August, there were 339 reported rapes, including 114 gang rapes, and 41 cases in which victims were killed after rape. In June, 31 people were killed in mob violence, followed by another 28 deaths in August. According to HRSS, political violence during January-June resulted in 56 deaths and 5,246 injuries across 830 incidents. Forty-four members of minority communities were killed. A total of 383 journalists were subjected to harassment or attacks. In August alone, 87 unidentified bodies were recovered from rivers, canals and wooded areas.
Against this backdrop, the Home Minister’s biggest concern appears to be offering rewards for catching so-called Awami League collaborators. It is as if roses are being handed out on a blood-soaked battlefield. The minister boasts about police intelligence, yet deaths in police custody, enforced disappearances and the deaths of 58 people in prisons do not appear to be part of the accounting on his desk.
The condition of Bangladesh during the BNP-Jamaat government from 2001 to 2006, including political killings, enforced disappearances, persecution of minorities and corruption, cannot simply be erased from the pages of history. Now back in power, the BNP has demonstrated within just seven months that it has not returned to govern, but to seek revenge.
How deep must political bankruptcy become before a government announces its intention to completely eliminate the very political party through whose leadership Bangladesh was born? This is a country named in the legacy of Sheikh Mujib, yet the Home Minister is announcing rewards for eliminating the very party associated with that struggle. And the BNP itself now knows that the election held in February, after excluding the Awami League, was inherently illegitimate.
Maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the Home Ministry. When a minister, having failed to fulfill that responsibility, instead begins announcing rewards for political arrests, it becomes clear that, for this government, the safety and security of the people are not the priority. Political retaliation is.

920 Bodies. 20 Months. Still, So Many Questions.
Between January 2025 and August 2026, River Police reportedly recovered 920 bodies from Bangladesh’s rivers—more than one body a day on average.
Who were they? How did they die? How many families are still waiting for answers?
Every death deserves identification, evidence-based investigation, and accountability.
920 bodies. Hundreds of stories. Countless unanswered questions.
Bangladesh deserves answers.

📷 “If they kill me, no one will remain to demand justice for my brother.”
Ismail Hossain Rakib, younger brother of slain Awami Jubo League leader Maksud Alam, says he is still being threatened and forced into hiding after Maksud was allegedly hacked to death on August 5, 2024.
His family alleges BNP activists were responsible and says they continue to face harassment while seeking justice for his murder.

A poor people’s healthcare centre demolished overnight using a government excavator, alleged looting in the presence of police, and an investigation pointing to a BNP reserved-seat MP. Who will be held accountable?
Healthcare, public property, and citizens’ safety must never become casualties of political power.
Bangladesh deserves justice, transparency, and the rule of law.
