@RutgersAltRoute A5: I implement a lot project based learning or allow for choices in assessment style. This allows for student autonomy and also gives them a great chance to show what they know in a way they are comfortable with! #alternateroute#growthmindset
@miss_casimiro@RutgersAltRoute Great idea!! I think that this sort of humanizes you as the teacher also and makes you more approachable- definitely going to try this :).
@RutgersAltRoute One of my favorite tools to use is individual mini whiteboards for the kids- so easy to correct a mistake on there plus they feel like teachers using it :).
@nygiantsnjgrl@RutgersAltRoute Love this- I always tell my kids that this is the importance of a good eraser! We can make mistakes and learn how to fix them together.
@RutgersAltRoute A2 My favorite way to create growth mindset opportunity is to provide choices in the classroom. I allow my students to share opinions and make guided choices within our curriculum guidelines about what interests them to learn about! #growthmindset#alternateroute
@m1lKb4C3real@ASingh60290388@RutgersAltRoute Yes, one thing I remind my kids of is that the best way to feel good about yourself when you're struggling is to do something kind for others! They always feel so much better about themselves afterward.
@ASingh60290388@RutgersAltRoute This is a frequent struggle in kinder, especially when students compare their reading capability to others! When this happens I often ask students to list 3 things that are great at as a confidence boost and reset!
@Spedteacher2022@RutgersAltRoute Absolutely, its so important to be so careful in delivering constructive feedback to these students so that they understand it is meant as guidance rather than criticism.
@RutgersAltRoute A1: I think one of the biggest challenges is students who struggle with self-doubt. However, we as educators have an opportunity to help them recognize their growth and capability #altroute#growthmindset
@EastlackTracy@RutgersAltRoute Yes! My kids know our routine like the back of their hand and it brings them so much comfort and stability in the classroom, especially for my more anxious students.
