Most successful startups consist of a wonderfully popular product more than compensating for many mistakes by the founders. You have to have that wonderfully popular product or there is too little margin for error. But if you do, it will buy your way out of all kinds of trouble.

An AI accounting startup hit a $1B valuation in 48 hours. The team just laid out how the whole thing works underneath.
Rillet replaces the accounting system a company runs on. Not a tool that sits next to it, the ledger itself. Six hundred customers have pulled out NetSuite, Oracle, SAP and Workday to move onto it.
The interesting part is what they call their own architecture. From their release: the ERP becomes the harness where humans and agents share the same financial data, apply the same policies, and work from one continuously updated view.
Three decisions make that work:
1. Data arrives structured. Native integrations feed a real-time general ledger instead of dumping exports into spreadsheets.
2. Agents work inside the ledger, not beside it. Their words: agents need more than access to data, they need to be in the general ledger itself.
3. Every action carries an audit trail, and approval stays with a human wherever it matters.
Their critique of everyone else is the sharp bit. Legacy systems store what already happened. The new wave layers agents on software never designed for them, which repeats the same mistake with better marketing.
One customer runs finance past $2B in ARR with a team of three.
The danger of selling to big companies, if you're a startup, is that they don't say no outright. They have months of meetings with you first. Since you hate meetings, that seems to you a sign of commitment. But it's not. They love having meetings! It's almost all they do.
Anthropic engineer:
"You're not supposed to prompt Claude. You're supposed to build a system that prompts itself."
In 45 minutes she shows exactly how Anthropic builds agents that remember, fix their own mistakes and get smarter with every run.
This beats any paid course on agents I've seen.
Watch it, then read the guide on building loops below.
instead of watching 2 hours of Netflix tonight, watch this Stanford lecture
it's the clearest explanation I've seen of how ChatGPT and Claude actually work
useful whether you've never touched AI in your life or have been using it every day for the past year
i took the key ideas and turned them into a practical guide on how to actually get 100% out of AI
you can find it below with ready-to-copy prompts and solutions
When starting a marketplace, focus on getting more of whichever side is rarest, which is almost always buyers rather than sellers. (If it's sellers, you've discovered a gold mine.)
Something I told 14 yo: People are going to stop reading books. I wish this wasn't so, but I fear it is. The silver lining in this cloud is that if you're one of the few people who still read, you'll have a huge advantage over everyone else.
@t_blom@NotTomBrown Compute is becoming the new factory floor. The bottleneck is no longer just model quality, but who can secure power, chips and utilization fast enough to turn intelligence into a product people can actually use.
