New paper out on insect adhesion: https://t.co/DKKfC88H2Y !
We explore how insects, from newly-hatched to fully-grown adults, maintain their strong attachment to surfaces that allows them to climb even inverted; this knowledge can help us scale bioinspired adhesives. 1/5
Work social at #pint23! 🤓 Learning about the use of AI to design games & the use of topology to predict the weather from engaging #QMUL’s academics.
🧠 🚨 THREE DAYS TO GO!!! 🚨 🍺
#pint23 is returning to Manchester this Monday and tickets are getting snapped up faster than free crisps at the bar 🤯
Here’s another events spotlight to help you choose where you should be spending your next 3 weekday evenings… 🧵 ⬇️
🍺 Satisfy your thirst for knowledge with the @pintofscience festival running from May 23 to 24.

I am incredibly excited to join @uoftengineering in Jan‘23 as the @paulcadario Chair in Global Engineering, researching next generation synthetic biology & micro/nano-sensors and training new #engineering leaders to tackle #SDGs & global challenges like #AntimicrobialResistance!
@Func_mat_lab @AnnaFischerLab @RisingStars_UFR @UniFreiburg Oh nooooo, that means you’ll leave before I come to Freiburg. 😢 Enjoy your last week & let’s catch up online! 🤗
Special appreciation post dedicated to our @RisingStars_UFR organising team members for making this possible. It takes more than above and beyond to bring all of us together 🍻🥰

Many thanks to co-authors Charlotte Andrew, @AndreaELAttipoe & @EvoBiomech! Special congratulations to Charlotte who kicked off this work in her MEng project @ImperialBioeng! 5/5
We showed that the secretion’s properties don’t change significantly with size. This reopens the debate on the function of the secretion - a key issue if we ever hope to create human-made adhesives that mimic insect feet. 4/5
#pint22 is starting today & it’s in person!🎉 The festival has been bringing together researchers, artists & the public to discuss cool science in local spaces for 10 years now! 😲 Here’s photo evidence of my 4 years with @pintofscience (5th photo pending). Get your tickets!
